'Green, is your television on?' George II asked while on phone.
'No. Why?'
'Turn it on as we speak.'
George turned on his television. 'What the hell is this?!' He shouted when he saw little George and Sheila on the screen.
'Well Green, I will advise you watch the interview before you take a wrong step.'
'What.....' The phone had gone dead on him. 'The son of a gun cut the call on me.' He slowly sat on the nearest seat in his living room as he listened to the on going interview.
'Now Sheila, it's your turn to enlighten us your feeling on the news that George cheated on you. Do you actually feel so?' One of the newspapers' reporter asked.
'When I read it this morning, I actually felt bad that how could George do this to me. Then I recalled that day that I was the one who gave him permission to sleep with a woman.'
'You did that? How could you have thrown your fiancée to the wolves?!' One of bloggers asked unbelievably.
'As George said, I'm from a strict home and the moral I was brought up with is my wedding night should be special and memorable in my life and coupled with my uncertainty that George would break my heart if anything like that could happen. I told him when he asked for sex that I wouldn't give him until my wedding night. He was initially angry but I made him realize that if he was only interested in me for sex, then we should forget about everything. So in my mind, we had ended our relationship and I went away. So as far as I'm concerned, he had not proposed to me, I was not like the only woman in his life then so, he didn't cheat on me.'
'What about the pregnancy the lady in question is carrying?' Another asked.
'It is yet to be confirmed and if it is true, I will not deny the child the opportunity of good life.'
'Whoa! Do we still have understanding women like you in this world?!' Alistair exclaimed
'My mother taught me the efficacy of love.'
'What can you say about George?'
She looked at George with such tenderness that Gary thought that there must have been some feelings for George from her if he didnt know about the situation surrounding the so called marriage.
'George to me is a very down to earth man although a bit temperamental but very compassionate. He's a man who can do anything for you without having anything to gain from it. He is very passionate about the poor and would never create a class. He loves his people and cares a lot. I wish you could see him with his grandpa. Even when Mr. Green told him I am nobody for his political career, he told him that he needed no other woman than me. It was after then he proposed to me. A man of the people whose ambition is to rid the youths of evil vices and encourages them to build a better future for themselves. When he went to visit my dad in hospital, he made sure he spoke to other patients in the hospital to know what they feel. George Isaac II is a man we need to take our people to the next level.'
'You said the party chairman said he should forget about you, why would he say that?'
'I'm from a humble background and he never thought that I have nothing to add to George regarding popularity and financial support. My father is just a baker who nobody knows. So if he's not a humble and loving man, do I fit into the category of the type he would have wanted to marry knowing that he's a well known man?'
'George, you mean you damn all consequences and went ahead to propose to Sheila?'
'If I did not propose to her, I would have disappointed my grandpa, close friends and myself.'
'Now talking about the news, would you say Mr. Green must have known who is behind it?'
'This is a life program and I won't conclude on that. As a candidate of my great party, I will not want to make it personal because it also has to do with the party. Also, I will want the party to do their investigation thoroughly without bias then we will then act on the outcome and report given. I trust the members of the executive, they will not want to soil their hands in this case.'
'Now, back to the love birds, when is the wedding taking place?'
'We will get back to you on that but all of you are cordially invited for both covering of the event and individuals as friends.' George concluded.
'Viewers, there is a newspaper you need to watch our for. It's for propaganda which can wrongly cloud your judgment. Please seek the truth and you shall find it. This is your only Alistair signing out.'
'Son of a bitch!' Green screamed throwing the television remote on the floor. He punched some numbers on the phone he was holding and waited for the person to pick. 'James, I want you and the others to meet me at home in thirty minutes. It's a matter of urgency. Inform them immediately.' He hung up.
'You people were so wonderful!' Gary commended after the interview. With this, Green would think twice before crossing path with you.'
'We wouldn't have done it without your support. I really have to thank Alistair for organizing various media representatives in a very short time.' George said.
'You know Alistair is a very powerful woman that would serve you well during your campaign. People love and respect her a lot.' Gary said.
'But with your exception.' Alistair cut in.
'Alistair darling, you were so wonderful there. When you insisted to be a journalist way back when, I knew you would be a great one. Thanks a lot for this. I owe you one.' George said as he gave her a hug.
'Come on George, what are friends for? You've always been an inspiration and encouragement to me despite my father's disagreement.'
'Maybe if you had taken over his empire, you would have been sitting on billions now.' Gary joked.
'Shut up Gary, your joke is not funny.' Alistair retorted.
'Even if it was funny, do you even know how to laugh?' Gary responded.
'I can never laugh at your jokes because they are very dry.' Alistair said with annoyance.
'You two shouldn't start here. We have visitors around.'
'He started it.' Alistair said childishly.
'Gary, be the mature one and apologize.' George requested.
'Not on your life George. She is damn annoying.' Gary walked away without looking back.
'Alistair, you have to excuse Gary. You have known him for a long time and his way of joking. Why do you always find fault with him?'
'George, you're always defending him even when he does something so hurtful. He's such a jerk.'
I know but not here in front of all these people would you have a fight.' He placed his arm on her shoulder to turn her towards the direction of the kitchen. 'Be a little nice and help Sheila in organizing breakfast for everyone. The cook has prepared something but kindly get your people settled for them to eat.'
'There are some questions I want to personally ask you George.'
'Yeah, I know you but it is not today. We must watch out for Green and follow him to submit the names and I will grant you interview.'
'But how will you know when he's going?'
'Can't you trust me, as we are talking, someone is monitoring him. Just be at alert with your crew and friends. I want live stream of today's events.'
'I love my assignment today boss.'
'Be careful of what you say, I'm a businessman and I look for the best which you are.'
'Thanks George, you're a real friend.'
'Just do your best and that's all Alistair.'
'Have I ever told you how much I love you my big brother?'
'You've told me many times whenever I rescued you from one problem and another.'
She pouted her mouth and hit George playfully on the hand. 'You're such a kill joy.'
'Thanks for the compliment.' And he pushed her towards the kitchen.
Stuart spoke from his behind. 'Has Bernard called?'
'Not yet but I have a feeling he will soon call because Green will want to make a smart move.'
'That will nail him forever. My grandpa has spoken to the secretary but he denied his involvement. He said Green never told him anything.' At that time George's phone rang. He picked it and saw Bernard's name as the caller.
'Speak to me.'
'Some party members are already in his house like a matter of urgency. Are we still to wait till he moves?'
'Who are those with him?'
'Party PRO, treasurer, some four men I don't know.'
'That must be our cue. Get ready we will meet you at the electoral office.'
'Copied.'
