Anna went to have meeting with some of the groups she would be needing for Jane and Blake's wedding and was surprised at how high the prices were. She looked at her estimates and realized that if Stuart had not spoken to her, she wouldn't had made much in the contract.
Talking about Stuart, she had forgotten to call him. Looking at her time it was pass eleven o'clock, so she brought out her phone and dialled Stuart's number but it was not going through. She called three times yet, she could not get through to him, she then concentrated on what she was doing.
'Mum, were you able to talk to uncle Stuart?' Sean asked his mother as they got home from his school three hours later.
'I'm sorry honey, I could not get him on phone. I don't know what happened but his line was not going.' She explained to him as she was putting his things to their appropriate places.
'Can we try him this time?' Sean pleaded with his mother.
'Honey, he might be busy and does not want any disturbances.'
'This is around two in the afternoon, he might be having his lunch. Mummy, please call him now.' He pulled at his mother's hand to make her leave what she was doing and call Stuart.
Reluctantly, she brought out her phone from her bag and called Stuart but his line was not connecting.
'Sean, I can't still get him. Let's leave him be for the time being.'
'But mum, it's your fault that uncle Stuart went away angry.' He complained with his voice laced with tears
'Honey,' she drew him to her and put him on her laps on the couch. 'I thought we had spoken on this and mummy is very sorry for making Sean sad. So why are you bringing it up again?' She raised his head with her finger when Sean bowed his head. 'I'll try all I could to get him and apologize.'
'Would you really do that mum?'
'I promise you my darling.' Sean hugged his mum happily.
'Thanks mum. I love you so much.'
'And I love you more sweetheart. Shall we prepare lunch now?'
'Sure mum!' He said excitedly as he jumped off his mother's laps.
Allison was busy on her laptop for her blog but could not concentrate due to Lucas' thought that had been disturbing her since the last time they saw, almost a week ago. She tried several times to write something interesting but she kept on deleting what she wrote. She eventually pushed the laptop to one side and opened her book to read. Yet, she couldn't concentrate.
'Having problem concentrating?' Adams asked coming into his study quietly.
'Adams, you could have knocked. You startled me.'
'I'm sorry, I saw the door a little ajar and thought the twins were doing their assignments. More over the last time I checked, I'm still the owner of this house.' He walked into the study and moved closer to her and sat down on the chair opposite the one she was sitting.
'Is there any problem kid sis?' He asked looking at her intensely.
'Nothing I can't handle. i just need inspiration to write something down on my blog because my followers have been waiting.'
'You must have got a large number of followers now.'
'Not that many, say, about a thousand now.'
'That's quite a number for you to be a celebrity after all, you're Ian Green's daughter.'
'Please don't further spoil my mood by mentioning his name.'
'So what's eating you up? Do you want chocolate to lighten your mood?'
'Adams,' she signed. 'I'm no more a baby. You can sell that to Audrey and Aubrey.'
'Talking about those two, where are they?'
'They are still in the school.'
'School at this time of the day?' He looked at his wrist watch.
'So long for a brother who wants to be a father at all costs. Today is for extra- curriculum activities.' She supplied looking at her brother with amusement.
'At least I showed that I care.'
'That's true and the twins are really enjoying it here now that their mother has her own family.'
'That was the least I could do then. I'm happy everyone is happy. What of you, are you happy?'
'Huh huh.'
'That's not an answer.' He looked at her closely and from the experience he had had with her, he knew she was worried. He held her hand across the table with a smile, he spoke to her. 'Allison, you know I can do anything for you to make you happy. You've not been talking to me lately maybe, because you have the twins around you. I'm jealous, we have not been bonding again.'
'Hmm.' She sighed. 'You know you've been busy looking for a sponsor for your big show and I didn't was to disturb you. Your matter first, how many people have responded on the sponsorship?'
'Would you belief that many people I know are through Ian Green? I don't want to discuss with George yet. You know he just got married and until he's back from his honeymoon before I would be able to approach him. I discussed with Felix, he showed interest but what he advised was I should not involve just a sponsor but various people. Unfortunately,' he shrugged his shoulders in regret. 'I went to pick a fight with Lucas and Felix said he's one if the potential people that would have sponsored me.'
'Why would you pick a fight with Lucas of all people.'
'I thought he treated you badly.'
'Adams, why would you do that because of me? It was dad who forced the relationship but why I was angry with Lucas was I expected him to reject it when he knew he had no feelings for me as George did and there is no hard feelings against him. Although after the incidence, in fairness to him, he made attempt to get in touch but, I snubbed him.'
'Wow, I thought he was lying.'
'So what do you want to do now?'
'I don't know but the fact remains that George might likely help out as a prudent businessman he is.'
'Don't bank on it. He may not believe in putting his money in entertainment.'
'So what option do I have now?'
'It's so bad that as rich and influential our father is, we don't have anyone outside his circle of friends.'
'You know what I'm planning, I'll provide entertainment during George's campaign that would attract young talented people. This may afford me to discuss with his friends for sponsorship. You know they are no more under the party chairman's influence.'
'That sounds better. There is a question I want to ask you, where did you see Lucas for you to pick a fight with him and I know you never knew him?'
'It was at George's wedding that Felix introduced us.'
'George's wedding? But I thought Lucas and George were political opponents?'
'They've formed alliance now and their team is very formidable that all the party's stalwarts can't even control them. Seeing what George and his group are doing, many of the old party sponsors are behind him with the exception of dad and some few executive members.'
'Are you now a member of the party?'
'You know I'm not cut out for politics but since I'm getting close to them, I heard one thing or the other from Felix.'
'Do you want me to talk to Lucas on your behalf?'
'No, I'll handle it.'
'Are you sure?'
'Are you now on talking term with Lucas cos I remember the last time you spoke about him, you cried.'
'That was then. The last time we saw, he ended up kissing me.'
'He kissed you? Where and when?' He asked smiling.
'A question at a time please.' She said teasingly. 'We actually met at a departmental store last week when I went shopping with the twins.'
'And you never thought it fit to tell me after I had gone to fight him? It's true you can't trust women when it comes to the thing of the heart.'
'Come on Adams, it's not as if we are back together. It was a stollen kiss.'
'I bet, you've been walking in the cloud since then.'
'Well, it felt good though but I want him to make the next move. He's taking the twins out this weekend and he invited me. Although, I haven't given him my response yet, but I think it's not a bad idea to join them and live a little.'
'That's alright. Once the three of you are happy, I'm happy too.'
'Thanks bro, we all love you too.'
Gary was exhausted from the work load in his office but he had promised to take Alistair out for dinner and he didn't want to disappoint her so he picked his phone from his table in the office and called her.
'Hey honey.' Alistair greeted sounding tired.
'Beautiful, how are you? You're sounding tired.'
'Yes I'm extremely tired from my work load.'
'Same Princess. Are you still at work?'
'Yes honey. We are about publishing another edition of the magazine.'
'Oh I forgot. Have you had anything to eat?'
'Are you offering me dinner?' She asked her voice brightened up a bit.
'You have forgotten our dinner date?'
'Oh mine! This publication has taken my mind off everything. I'm so sorry honey. Where are you now?'
'In the office.'
'You're still working at this time?!'
'You know how my work is and most especially when we have added a new client to the list of our clientele, I need to go through all agreements before we sign.'
'But you will wear yourself out if you continue like this.'
'But you're still in the office too at this time. Don't you think it's too much for you as a woman?'
'Come on darling, mine is just a day in a month but yours is an everyday thing.'
'That's the sacrifice you pay as a legal officer for a big company.'
'Honey, you need to have assistants that would make the job easier for you.'
'But there are some very sensitive documents that I can't trust an assistant to attend to.'
'I still need you strong in all departments.' She whispered.
'Do you want to test how strong I am most especially in action department?'
'Gary, you have a dirty mind.'
'Do I? Then expantiate on "all departments"'
He said with laughter in his voice. 'We are engaged and I need to feel your presence more in my life.'
'Is it not too early? We've not really dated.'
'But we've known each other for years.'
'Yes, as a friend to my cousin.'
'Okay then, let's get to know each other well in all aspects.'
'That's better. So when are we going on a date?'
'Tonight.'
'Tonight?' She looked at her time and it was almost nine in the evening. 'Okay, let me just give them instructions on the printings.'
'I'll pick you up in thirty minutes and one more thing Princess, make yourself beautiful for me because I need your face to get rid of the tiredness.'
'Same here honey.'
Precisely thirty minutes later, Gary was in front of Alistair's office building. He called her to inform her of his arrival. 'You look stunning my Princess, I knew you would be the antidote to my tiredness.' Gary complimented Alistair as he came down to open the car door for her.
'Thank you honey.' She said as she lifted her face for a kiss.
'Why are you not with your driver?' She asked as Gary moved the car out of her office premise.
'The poor man just had a baby girl so I don't want to deprive him of daddy and baby bonding. More over, I want us to be free to discuss intimate things in the car.'
'Things like what?'
'Things like how I want to eat you up raw.'
Alistair felt tingling between her thighs.
'I have been looking for our first night together that I have been using my work to keep my sanity.'
'Are you sure we would go on a date or end up in your room?'
'Which would you prefer?'
'I want both but I have to eat because I'm famished.'
'Then we are not in a hurry?'
'No, we have the whole night.'
Gary held her hand as he was driving and brought it to his mouth for a kiss. 'Hmm, I promise you a night of extreme pleasure.'
Alistair moved closer and put her head on his shoulder.
'Do you know how long I've fantasised this day honey?'
'How long my Princess?'
'The first day I saw you with George in university.'
'George was a real kill joy, he prevented me from telling you how I felt.'
'I think it was for the best. Maybe, we would have gone our separate ways by now knowing you as a playboy.'
'I had to become a playboy since I could not go for you. Also, how would I say no to all those girls then?'
'Naughty you. You kept on stabbing my heart each time I saw you with girls most especially Molly. I thought you would end up with her.'
'I never liked any of those girls but, Molly had a little of me because she understood me very well. Although it was not easy breaking up with her but she couldn't take it when I went to beat Ernest up because of you. It was then she knew it was you who had my heart.'
'It was you who beat Ernest up?'
'Yes. I was at your room door when you told George how he molested you. I couldn't take it and I best him up and threatened to send him to jail for raping you.'
'I thought all the while that it was my cousin that beat him up.'
'Yes, George got to him to do justice but by the time he saw Ernest in the state I left him, he said he wouldn't had done more than what I did.'
'Hmm, my super hero.'
'I was mad for days I locked myself up not seeing anyone.'
'No wonder I didn't see you to sympathize with me. I hated you more when you never showed up because I was waiting for your shoulders to cry on.'
'I'm sorry I disappointed you, I was grieving too because I never envisaged any other man touching you except me.' He parked the car and turned towards her. 'Here we are Princess to give you a physical food and later an intimate dessert.'
'Gary you should have been a professional seducer and not a lawyer.' She stretched from her seat and kissed him deeply. 'I love you my seducer.' She declared after the kiss.
'And l love you more my Princess.' He held her face in his hands. 'It's time to feed you.' He pecked her on the lips.
Gary came down from the car and opened the passenger's door for her. Putting his arm round her waist, they walked into the restaurant.
