1 vs 10,000

It was unclear how much time had passed. The air had turned into a slight hint of red, and the giant barrier seemed to slowly change into a blood-red color. "Please! Spare me! I'll..." In a quick, piercing attack, the neck of the dragon soldier had been completely pierced, and the vocal cords were damaged beyond repair. The same dragon died shortly from blood loss and shock. "No! No...! A monster!!!" Another one of them had been diagonally split into two and died almost immediately from blood loss, damaged organs, severed bloodstreams, and trauma-inducing shock. Escaping was futile, and fighting back seemed even less possible. The only hope they somewhat possessed was that the human didn't go and kill them first, sparing them at most a few minutes. None of them had any time to react before it was their turns to die. Blood covered the previously smooth and untouched sand, the dead bodies starting to produce a slight rotten smell that stenched the already suffocating air within the barrier.

"I might have overdone myself... maybe they had already fought before I met them?" Velios was sitting atop a mountain of corpses, looking down to see an entire field covered in the corpses of the dragons. It was both a gruesome scene, but there was something about it that was satisfactory, an element of beauty hidden within that only Velios could appreciate. "I'll leave you all be... to rest in peace. I won't bind you by my powers, but I'll let your souls be free as long as they wish... not that I know what happens when someone dies." Velios thought about the idea of what actually awaited at the end of one's life, but he decided that it wasn't too important, since he didn't really consider dying. "I mean... I already died all those months ago. What if you just start somewhere else after dying?" Velios didn't know why, but he had an unnatural amount of interest in it. It wasn't noticeable, but he occasionally thinks about what happened with the sovereign all those months ago in the dungeon.

"Guess this was worth it. I do feel a little bit better after all. What should I do next, then...?" Velios climbed down the mountain of corpses he was sitting on as he turned his body to be able to look in every direction. "I guess the barrier was a little over the top as well... I don't think anyone actually even made it to the barrier wall. Well, guess that's that now." Velios slowly started to feel like himself again. His desire to train, to fight, and to grow stronger had increased to its natural state, and only a few seconds after he removed the barrier, he started training again like he usually did. It was only a matter of time until he started creating theories in his head about what was possible to accomplish with magic while physically straining his body to his limits, using his own mana to release a terrifying amount of pressure to make it an artificial gravity amplifier.

I guess these skills really do come in handy. I even gained a few from killing all of the dragons. The skill: "multitasking" proved to be super useful. I can do hundreds, if not thousands of things at the same time, depending on the task, and I can do it at the cost of doing a single thing. Really speeds things up! Anyways, this other skill I obtained is straight up busted. "Skill: Dragon Slayer, level 245, gives a 24.5% increase in all stats while fighting dragons" sure is something. It sure made a difference, but the growth seems to slow down the higher up it gets. I must have killed... slightly under 100,000? There were a lot of them in the city, so I doubt that it's a significant amount lower than that, but still, it boosts all of my stats, even my mana amount? That sure does sound useful.

During his thinking, he had got carried away. It had taken significantly longer for Velios to notice the troops that were walking in his direction, but this time, they were human. "Shit! What do I do...? What do I do?!" It may have taken a while for him, but Velios had realized, thanks to Vadh, Freya, Shiva, Ragaja, and many more monsters, that he was far from normal. Velios decided to play dead, realizing that he had a chance to make it seem like something terrible had happened. He made up the fact that most humans most likely wouldn't be able to tell normal humans from their superior dragon counterparts apart. Little did he realize just how bad of an idea it actually was. Despite being strong, Velios didn't know how to make decisions while accounting for what the average human was like. He couldn't even begin to imagine just how weird or suspicious it would be if an entire army of humans had been wiped out in the middle of the desert, and have a single survivor, the weakest looking out of all of them.

"Halt!" The leader of the army had stopped the rest of them upon seeing the unmoving bodies in the distance. "W-what happened here?!" The troops of humans had eventually made it close enough for everybody to see it. Dead bodies scattered everywhere, the lingering smell of the diseased and the blood that hadn't dried. "It's fresh blood!" One of the other humans shouted, getting close enough to touch it. "Quick! Search for any remaining survivors!" The leader shouted again, reaching out with his hands towards the corpse-filled field, ordering everybody to search for any sorts of clues, to see if anything was still alive to get to know what happened. "Boss... w-what could have happened?" Multiple were equally scared, but only a single one was brave enough to speak. The sight of thousands of soldiers murdered in battle was terrifying, considering that most of them had been normal civilians, suddenly stuck in a world completely different from one they knew. "Mr. Smith! I think I found a survivor!" A voice was heard from the distance, at least a couple of football fields away, shouting to get his attention.

"What?! Show me the way!" Smith shouted back, commanding to be shown the way, having been shocked that anyone had survived this unknown encounter. When he arrived, he found a fellow human, hidden under another dead corpse. "You! Are you alive?!" Smith shouted again, moving away the corpse that was covering him. "ahh... don't kill me... I don't want to die..." The words sounded unenthusiastic, and it was obvious that he wasn't good at acting at all. Velios tried to make a facial expression showing fear which ended up showing up as a mixture of five different emotions, making the captain of the human party uncertain if someone like the person in front of him really could have survived anything as catastrophic as the scene looming around them. "W-what happened...? Are the dragons gone?" Velios was looking around as if he was uncertain of the terrain and of the incident around him.

"Dragons? Did the dragons do this?!" Mr. Smith shouted out, only having ever heard of their existence. "...yeah... it was the su-" Velios had forgotten, but to his knowledge, he didn't know if any human had even seen a single superior dragon and lived to tell the tale. The only time that anyone has actually seen a dragon and lived to know about their existence was at the human tournament, which wasn't even that long ago, and they were still making headlines worldwide. Velios had actually accidentally killed the inferior dragon with strikes so hard that their whole bodies were obliterated, leaving nothing but an unrecognizable pile of what remained. "The su? What's a su?" Smith had asked that in the moment, but was immediately carried away by his emotions, leading him to want to explore more of the scene that had unfolded. "You guys, take care of him and ensure his safety first! Get any useful information you can!" He then headed off in a different direction, eager to explore, yet remaining with a calm expression.

The two soldiers that remained after their boss had left had been charged with the responsibility of taking care of Velios, making sure to ensure his safety, but really only because he could hold useful information. "Are you okay? What happened?" One of the soldiers had asked in a calm voice, seemingly full of compassion and empathy, but even Velios could smell out how fake it was. If anything, his safety was the least thing they were thinking about. Most normal humans would run away if they had seen that, and with the blood being fresh, there was no telling if the threat could come back at any time, even though none of them knew that Velios had caused all of it. "We can get you back to safety, but promise us that you'll tell us about everything that has happened, okay?" The other one asked, in a much softer and more compassionate voice, seeming to actually care about his safety to some degree.

"Safety? Is there a city nearby?" Velios asked in a casual tone, forgetting that he had acted scared just previously. "It isn't nearby, but it is a city. In fact, it's the largest city that's been hand-built by us since the start of the game. The metropolis of this world, one might even think that it's a country by its size." Velios was intrigued to hear about it. The largest city? Then it must be giant, especially with the way it's been described. I want to see it! I want to see what the "world's largest city" has to offer. Just imagining what kind of strong foes or individuals I will meet there gets my blood pumping. This might actually have been a good idea. If all they want is for me to answer some questions, I'd gladly do it in return for visiting the city. Sorry, Ragaja, Ajagar, Vadh, Shiva, Freya... but it seems I'll be gone for a little bit longer than I planned. I hope to meet you all someday, and I hope you're all stronger by then, too. But now, it's time for me to head to the biggest city this world has to offer!
