Keep It Up, It's Great

Huang Rushi's eyes widened in shock as he vehemently shook his head, "I can't possibly allow this! How can I let the boss pay for someone I personally selected?"

"At Xplendi Group, we never allow our employees to spend their own money for work-related matters. It's decided then," Yang Ruoqian said with a resolute tone. "Since you've arranged the photographer, take this set of photography equipment for yourself."

Is this some kind of angelic boss?

Huang Rushi was profoundly touched, "Thank you, boss! I promise to work twice as hard!"

For God's sake…Don't work twice as hard…

Considering the quality of the current live streaming content, overexerting might just backfire, right? After a brief moment of internal debate, Yang Ruoqian wiped the sweat from his forehead, pondering how he would get home at this late hour.

Suddenly, Huang Rushi's old, beat-up van entered his sight.

After a quick mental check of his bank account balance, Yang Ruoqian asked, barely suppressing his embarrassment, "Did you drive here? Great, could you give me a lift?"

"Wha-what?" Huang Rushi hadn't expected such a request from his boss. He paused, then replied, "Of course, boss. Please, hop in."

Setting down his camera gear, Huang started the van and switched on the air conditioner.

As for why the head of such a massive company didn't have a car, Huang never doubted—perhaps the car was under repair, or someone had borrowed it. There was no way he didn't own one.

Settling in the passenger seat, Yang Ruoqian felt a relieving gust from the air conditioning. "I've been too engrossed with official matters. Tomorrow, I should get a car. Relying on taxi and uber just doesn't always work."

Yang Ruoqian had been so occupied with setting up new streamer that he hadn't taken advantage of the system's reimbursement offer. Now with Huang Rushi's matters settled and payment expected at the end of the month, he finally had some free time.

A minute later, as Huang slid into the driver's seat, he inquired, "Boss, where do you live?"

"Jia River Waterfront," replied Yang Ruoqian, fastening his seatbelt.

An upscale residence...

Young, a CEO, living in luxury, and driving premium cars.

Truly a winner at life, unlike Huang Rushi who, despite his age, lived in a cramped rental shared with three others and drove a second-hand van. Although Huang felt a tinge of envy, he sincerely believed that individuals like Yang Ruoqian deserved their success, considering he was dedicated enough to accompany an anchor during a live broadcast on a scorching night.

Soon, they reached the residential complex.

"We're here, boss. Take care."

Yang Ruoqian stepped out, nodding in appreciation, "You should rest too. Don't stress too much about work. You're doing great, just keep it up."

With that, he swiped his card to enter, boarding the elevator, massaging his weary eyes.

Staying up until nearly 3 am was exhausting.

The elevator dinged open.

As Yang Ruoqian pulled out his keys, he noticed a woman in loose pyjamas, seemingly bored, scrolling on her phone.

He approached her, surprised, "Chang Zhiqing? Why are you up? What are you doing out here?"

Casually pocketing her phone, she replied, "I checked the live streaming tonight. The numbers weren't great. Are you okay?"

He nearly chuckled. Poor ratings made him happier!

"It's a gradual process. Not everyone can become an overnight sensation," he said, understanding her concern for the company, "You shouldn't worry too much. Get some sleep."

However, Chang remained sceptical, "Are you sure everything's alright? Don't push yourself too hard."

"Why are you acting so strange today?" Yang Ruoqian, who had known Chang Zhiqing for years, felt something was amiss.

Rolling her eyes, Chang replied, "Just wanted to know your plans for tomorrow."

"We're picking up a company car from a car store."

"How much money does the company have left for you to splurge like this?" Chang frowned, "You're not some rich kid squandering his wealth, are you? Why not invest in profitable anchors instead? A car? Its value will drop by 20% the moment you buy it! Is that how investments work?"

Listening to her barrage of questions, Yang Ruoqian contemplated the future scale of Xplendi Group and its inevitable financial needs. However, the rewards from the system were spontaneously deposited into the company account. How would that work?

As if reading his thoughts, a cold voice from the system clarified, "Others will perceive the company's finances as normal. You can recruit accountants and financial staff as required."

Reassured, Yang Ruoqian replied, "It's late, get some sleep. We have work tomorrow."

Seizing the moment, Chang slipped into Yang Ruoqian's apartment.

Confused, he asked, "Aren't you going back to your room?"

"I forgot my keys in the rush to leave." Chang looked up innocently, emptying her pockets to prove she wasn't fibbing, "I didn't want to disturb Nai Yun, so I decided to crash here. Is that okay?"

Exhausted and not in the mood for further discussion, Yang Ruoqian trudged to his room, "Fine, find a room and sleep."

With a clang, the door to the master bedroom was shut.

Chang Zhiqing stared at Yang Ruoqian's retreating figure, slowly took out her phone, and opened the chat box with Gao Naiyun. She carefully typed, "Naiyun, I forgot my keys when I went out tonight. I'm staying at the landlord's place tonight. Remember to open the door for me in the morning!"

...

The next day, a well-rested Yang Ruoqian got up from his bed. Just after he finished his morning routine, he heard a light knock on the door.

Yang Ruoqian came out of the bathroom and casually asked, "What's up?"

Chang Zhiqing, who had just gotten out of bed and was slightly dishevelled, with half of her shoulder exposed, said, "It should be Naiyun coming to open the door for me."

She walked over and opened the door.

Thus, from outside, in Gao Naiyun's view, stood a dishevelled Chang Zhiqing and a freshly dressed Yang Ruoqian, one in front of the other.
