Unnamed 101 - Arteyel Saik

"Then who are the Unnamed?" Neil had asked with a curious glint in his innocent eyes.

“The Unnamed, huh?” I was amused by his knowledge. Who told him that there are people called unnamed as well? He never ceased to surprise me. Nevertheless, I answered: “4 thousand years ago, a group of Bart djinns discovered a pathway to another world, the world of humans.” Neil’s eyes had twitched at this. “Using this pathway, each of the four tribes sent their scouts and it was soon well-known that the human world was majestic, beautiful and rich in vegetation.

“Since the plants in the Jann Realm had been mostly poisonous, djinns had to live off fauns and the meat of other non-intelligent monsters but as this new, Bashr Realm –as it was later named- was discovered, our ancestors decided to migrate to the new world.

“The world then ruled by humans, who were not as strong as we thought them to be, feared us. They were weak, to the point that some of them started worshipping us.

“In some parts of that world, we slowly desensitized the humans and enslaved them, while in others; they had devised ways to kill us.

“But they were still weak, and we were unimaginably strong for them. Each tribe’s tendencies were different. The Ifrits had a love for human meat while the Sleeks used them for menial tasks and enjoyed toying with them. The Marids stood up for them. They prohibited intermingling with the humans and to go in hiding and live separately. The Barts, however, were the most surprising ones. Can you take a guess at what their behavior was, Neil?”

Neil thought it over once and said: “Did they perhaps show friendly behavior towards them?”

“Correct!” I told him, “The Barts adored the humans for their intelligence and observed their governmental systems as well as social culture. They helped the humans wherever they could and then, some of them started marrying those humans.”

Gasp

Neil had gasped when I had told him this. “Don’t tell me. Are the Unnamed a product of Bart-Human relations?”

I nodded. He was right. “Their children had no aura to their nails and had no abilities that came with being a djinn. Although they looked like a djinn and could traverse like us but they were just humans in a djinn’s shell.

“By djinn law, it is prohibited to marry them or to let them stay in any djinn territory. They are the outcasts of the realm and all djinns, even Barts, ignore their existence today. But let me tell you, my student, that the unnamed as I know them; are the most intelligent beings in the whole realm.”

“What happened to the Bashr realm, Art? If all of the djinns had gone there, how are we here, then?” Neil asked me curiously.

“It was because we were banished a millennia ago.” I told him. “Banished? Who-” He had quickly taken to questioning before I interrupted him.

“The thing is, Neil, never underestimate your enemy. We let ourselves run loose by pride and in the end; we were banished by someone. I don't know any more than that.”

Neil’s eyes shone with something. I didn’t know what it was, but after I told him this, he listened to me with a renewed vigor as I told him about all the battle tactics I had learned during my time in the Valiant Battalion.

‘I can leave this place, then.’ Daniel’s long lost hope came back to him as he made a mental note to find the pathway back to Earth for himself. ‘Even if the path will be locked now by that person, I will find a way to open it and get out of here.’

He resolved inherently and focused on his master's words with newfound concentration. If he wanted to go back, he first had to get out of Shah Furaith's clutches.
