The second night - Neil Sleek

“Teach him? Why should I?” A feminine voice resounded from the corner of the room.

Sean felt angered: “He possesses the same skill as you. Doesn’t that make him your successor? You should-“

“He shall find his own fate.”

“Whaaat? Don’t tell me you believe that shi-“ Sean answered.

‘She told this shit to us though.’ Brave was frightened by how casually the boy was talking to the fabled being.

“Don’t bother. She’s gone.” Amrita said carelessly.

Awkward silence crept into the living room as Daniel stood up to straighten himself up and leave. Sean, only now coming to realize the scary company hurried to follow him.

-

"Delaying it won't stop it from happening." Sean looked at him worriedly. Daniel wasn't sleeping. He just didn't want to. He knew it instinctively that if he went to sleep, he would be reborn there again. And so, it was hard for him to let go of his perfect world once again.

Sean was staying for the night but seeing his best friend restless, he came and sat on his bed.

"No matter how bad it is, no matter what happens there, I am here and when you wake up, I will still be. So will Uncle Claude and so will Mr. Kaplan. We are waiting for you, Daniel. So live that life to the fullest, because you have another life waiting for you right here."

-

"Come here, Captain."

Arteyel came closer to the Shah and carried the baby gently: "Give him a nametag and babysit him."

"As you command, your majesty."

As he looked down in the baby's eyes, all his worries left him. The boy was smiling. Arteyel couldn't help but smile back: "Such beautiful eyes. I name you 'Neil'."

-

The boy is a prodigy. I must save him from the Shah. Wait, no. I'm not betraying my king because I want to save a talented student. I'm doing this because I do not want to lose my family over the same trivial thing again. I'm sick of this thing called loyalty. I miss my wife.

"Why are you crying, Art?" Neil asked him, enraged: "Did Furaith do something to you?"

That made him smile. He could swear the boy would squeeze all Ifrit out of him one day.

As Neil understood it was nothing to worry about, he joked: "Oh, you must be nervous about the test. Don't worry, I won't tell anyone if I beat you tomorrow."

This made Art laugh out loud as he asked vigorously: "Who's beating who, now?"
