JUNE

Though Kristin didn't speak of the conversation we had, I can tell that he hasn't given up on not accepting Mark. He made my favourite chocolate-sprinkled doughnuts and waffles. While he drank some juice, I opted for milk.

It has been long since I had those with doughnuts.

“What are you doing after school? I will pick you up at 3,” he suddenly said, causing me to snap my head up, shocked by those words.

“Me?” I peered at him. “I intend to go on a date with Mark. He spoke of it yesterday, but—”

“I'm taking you to the company with me this afternoon. There are things I need your help with,” he cut my words short without letting me complete them.

“Why today?” I took a bite of my doughnuts, slowly chewing on them before I washed them down with my milk. “We can do whatever it is you need my help with, some other day, but not today,” I checked the time on my phone to know when Mark was arriving.
