GETTING A DRESS

I was awoken from my slumber when I felt someone dragging my legs. I rubbed my right hand on my face and discovered it was Hannah. She was wearing a brown sweatshirt and brown joggers. Her feet were adorned with brown boots, and her face, with her spectacles. Her dark brown hair was tied in a ponytail.

"It's 9 am; why are you still sleeping?" Hannah yelled, throwing her hands in the air.

"What are you doing here?" I inquired, sitting upright.

"Duh, the school dance is coming up at 9 pm today, and I don't have a dress!"

"Is that why you're here so early?" I asked. "How did you even get here?"Santa's reindeers brought me here," Hannah teased. "Get your butt out of bed and go take a shower this instant." Hannah, with her right hand, gestured towards the exit.

"That's actually the way out of the house," I clarified, standing on my feet. "The only day I get to rest, my best friend comes disturbing. Fun fact: it's because she has a date."

"This date means so much to me," Hannah sank onto my bed, bowing her head slightly. "I don't want to ruin it."

I patted her right shoulder and said, "You won't ruin it, Hannah; I will." I smiled, devilishly.

"Get out of here."

I could sense the euphoria coursing through Hannah's veins. I mean, no one wants to start something for the first time and be a failure at it. I don't want to start a lemonade business and go back begging my father for a dollar.

I rushed to the bathroom to take my bath. The shower wasn't loud enough to drown out the sound of old western music my dad was playing. I'd rather sleep in a toilet than listen to his type of songs for an hour. Thank God I wasn't born during his time; my life is already miserable enough.

I came out of the bathroom to find Hannah reading one of my books; it was a book that had a compilation of over a hundred love poems. Figured she was mastering those to say to her "date."

"Nice bookshelf you have here," Hannah remarked.

"Thatmy therapy center," I proceeded to get dressed.

"I think that introverts comprise a great number of the readers in our world today," Hannah stated. "Because I don't think anyone mingling with everyone will ever have an opportunity to finish a page without getting distracted."

"How are you reading with so much noise?"

"It's in the blood," Hannah whispered, stretching the "blood."

I wore a white shirt and black trousers. My feet were adorned with white Adidas sneakers, complementing my shirt.

I stood before Hannah and said, "My sister helped me pick my dress. Let me ask whether she can do the same for you too." I walked to Emma's room.

I found Emma in her room trying to repair her guitar.

"Hey, sis," I began, sitting on her bed.

"What's up, Em?" My sister asked.

"Hannah wants to get a dress. I don't know how to pick any. Can you help us?"

"Unfortunately, I can't. Just joined a band and want to rekindle my music skills. Will be leaving in the next ten minutes."

"Guess I'm ruining her date," I bit my lip.

"Amanda and I have the same taste. She will give her the best," Emma tapped my left shoulder.

"Thanks, sis," I returned to my room.

"My sister ain't coming, but I've got a plan," I said.

"Good grace," Hannah facepalmed. "Remember the last time you had a plan? We spent two weeks in detention."

"This is different; Trust me," I tugged Hannah outside.

Outside, I was greeted with an astonishing sight - a luxury Audi A4 sedan.

I gestured toward the car, turned to Hannah, and asked, "Do you have a license to drive that?"

"What's a license?" Hannah retorted.

"We're gonna get arrested."

"Yay!" Hannah yelled in excitement.

Hannah and I started the journey with her in the driver's seat. As we drove into town, we made sure to drive slowly and pretend to be mature so as not to attract the attention of the police.

Upon reaching Stellalin Clothing, Hannah parked the car, and we both walked in. Inside, Hannah was stunned by the beautiful sight, and I made contact with Amanda, explaining that I needed a dress for my friend.

Amanda stood from her seat and turned to Hannah. "Welcome to Stellalin Clothing, ma'am," Amanda greeted.

Startled, Hannah replied, "Welcome to my house. Sorry, you're welcome."

I slapped my face hard and asked, "Can we get to it?"

Just like me, Hannah was taken to the dressing room where she tried on over a million dresses before Amanda could settle on a green gown. The floor-length gown came with a green bag, a hair tie, and green slippers to complement the outfit. Hannah walked to the counter with Amanda to make payment.

"Who's the lucky guy?" Amanda asked.

"Jeremy," Hannah answered. "One of the most intelligent boys in school."

"Hmm, guess you're the lucky one."

Hannah chuckled.

After Hannah made the payment with her credit card, we both walked outside. There, we noticed a female cop standing by our car. She looked plump and she was wearing a smile.

"Are you the owner of this vehicle?" The cop asked.

"I am," Hannah replied.

"Well, you didn't park well," the cop revealed.

"Oh, my bad. Let me do that now," Hannah said.

"Not so fast, madam. You don't look eighteen," the cop remarked. "Can I see your driver's license?"

"Yeah, sure," Hannah swallowed. "No problem."

I placed the item we got in the trunk and quietly sat in the passenger's seat after Hannah gave me a wink. Hannah opened the driver's seat door to pretend as if she was searching for her license. I started the engine, and Hannah quickly rushed in. In an attempt to hold the car door back, we slightly drifted off the car and made the cop fall on her back. Adios, sucker; we moved with pace.

"We're wanted," Hannah said, laughing.

"You have no idea," I laughed.
