TAKING CONTROL

"Take a deep breath and close your eyes," Hannah instructed.

I did as instructed.

"Now, you have to fixate your mind on getting one sound. It could be a vehicle moving on the road or birds chirping from afar. Or even customers talking in a grocery store."

I tightened my eyes and tried to get a grip on a particular sound. My efforts were all futile as I kept hearing a cacophony.

I opened my eyes and said, "It's not working." I took a bottle of milk from the fridge.

"At least, your stomach is working."

"How long are we going to keep trying this?" Hannah questioned. "This is like the five hundredth time."

"I'm tired," my dad confessed, sinking himself on a couch.

"I wish we had an actual werewolf to teach you how to control your powers," Hannah fell on a couch.

"She's not a werewolf," Emma said. "At least not until she transforms into one."

I gulped the bottle of milk and said, "Can we try to develop my other skills? Like super strength?"
