DEMONS OF DIFFERENT SIZES

"Wake up, Emily; you're losing strength," Lydia's voice echoed in my subconscious. I felt her presence next to me in the room.

I slowly opened my eyes and caught sight of Lydia. She stood next to the hospital bed, where I had laid, and was shimmering as always. "What are you doing here?" I weakly let out.

"To do what I've been ordained to do - guide you. You must wake up and lose yourself from these bounds. Your city depends on you now."

"I can't; there's no strength in me. I can't feel my body. Can't you do something?"

"I'm what you humans call a 'spirit.' I'm just in your head; I can't manipulate the things of this realm."

"What can I do?"

"Think of something," Lydia slowly disappeared into the wind.

I turned to Henry who was struggling to open his eyes.

"Babe, please wake up," I pleaded.

Henry slowly turned his head towards me and asked, "Where am I? What is this place? How did we get here? Why am I chained?"
