Positive Energy Baby

Li Zhen lay exhausted on the gym floor, his eyes wide with shock and his mouth agape. He was clearly in a state of extreme disbelief.

If someone were to walk in and see him in this 'dead' state, they would definitely call an ambulance.

However, physiologically, he was fine. He was simply listening to the 'positive energy' in his head, rambling on about its past, which was completely overturning his worldview.

It said it was born in 1979, on a stormy evening, where a thin and small child played basketball repeatedly on an outdoor court. The entire sky could feel his resentment and effort: he wanted to grow taller, taller again, he had his basketball dream, he wanted to be a player for the Emsley A. Laney High School team in Wilmington, he wanted to be as outstanding as his brother.

Then a bolt of lightning grazed his shoulder, and the positive energy entered this guy's body amidst the chaos.

Unconsciously, it helped this kid grow 20 centimeters in a year and gave him the perfect physique for basketball: this silly kid hadn't realized why he grew so tall. There hadn't been a man over one meter ninety in his entire family history, yet he stood at one meter ninety-eight. (T/N: Yeah. As a basketball specimen MJ is, his family was never that tall.)

He thought it was the result of his training.

He gradually became famous, becoming a ruler on the basketball court. This was not unrelated to his diligent, obsessive training. He joined the professional league, becoming the pride of his family and the most successful basketball player.

But in this process, he fell.

"Although he still approached basketball very seriously, outside the court, he was no longer disciplined. He cheated time and time again, smoked, drank, gambled, bragged... I couldn't stand helping such a rogue become a basketball totem."

"I can't forgive myself. Every day, I generate resentment, but I can't escape from his body, nor can I communicate with him. I've become an optional energy in his body... I even realize that I'm about to disappear as his body rapidly weakens. I refuse..."

"Finally, on a stormy night, I managed to escape. I thought I would vanish into the boundless expanse of time, as if I had risen from nothingness and disappeared into nothingness, leaving no trace in this world. But thankfully, time created a crack."

"I turned in the lightning and gained the ability to communicate."

"So, lucky one, I want to help you become a greater basketball deity, I want you to replace his position! Even though I'm very weak now, I believe that justice will always triumph over evil!!"

The message received by Li Zhen left him dumbfounded. He felt like his whole worldview was rapidly collapsing.

However, the voice in his head told him, "There's nothing strange about this. In the course of history, how many heroes have had divine assistance, not to mention in other fields? How many athletes have emerged in the sports world, some of their talent coming from the realms of heaven and earth, they just didn't know. You can think of me as a talent, just one that can communicate with you, a talent that can grow progressively, understand?"

"And, I can assure you. I am the only talent energy in history that can communicate with you. You should be proud of this."

The voice in his head emphasized, but it was getting smaller and he seemed a bit tired from talking too much.

Li Zhen suddenly understood something. He muttered, "So, did I pick up a second-hand item?"

"Second-hand item?!" The voice in his head instantly sharpened, "This baby is unparalleled in history, the only talent energy that can communicate with humans, do you understand? This is the ultimate evolution, got it?"

Uh...

"Can you stop referring to yourself as a baby?" Li Zhen made a suggestion, "It doesn't sound dignified enough."

"Don't newborn humans all get called babies?" The 'positive energy baby' was talking when suddenly it yawned, "I'm tired, I don't have the energy to send brainwaves anymore... Mmm!"

As if the call was abruptly hung up, there was no more sound.

Hello!

Hello!

Hello!

No response. It seemed like the connection was completely lost.

Li Zhen shook his head helplessly, then struggled to get up and headed towards the school cafeteria.

...

"Oh my god, Bruce, are you sure you want to eat more? You've already had eleven steaks, can your stomach handle that much?" Scott exclaimed in an exaggerated manner, clearly shocked.

But Li Zhen was only seventy percent full. He was sure he could at least finish three more steaks and maybe two more large servings of mashed potatoes.

"You played so well today. I've been wanting to put that Chris Pat guy in his place. He's always acting tough just because his cousin is TJ Walton, but everyone knows, that's TJ Walton's ability, not his. What's there to boast about."

Scott said indignantly.

This comment made Thompson nod in agreement.

"But you don't have to worry about him snitching to TJ Walton. After you play the last three games, you won't be on the school team anymore, so who cares about their relationship." Scott continued.

He was a straightforward person. Thompson was more meticulous, and he immediately gave Scott a stern look, signaling him not to touch that topic.

Scott quickly shut up.

The two of them were Li Zhen's best friends on the Cardinals team. Before Li Zhen moved out, they were even roommates. So, they knew how strong Li Zhen's passion for basketball was, and they also knew how big of a blow it was when the coach announced that he wouldn't be registered for the next season.

So, Scott quickly changed the subject, "Do you guys know? There will be a large number of NBA scouts coming to watch the game tomorrow night. I know they're all here to check out Nick Young and Gabe Pruitt, but as long as I play brightly enough, I can steal their attention, and maybe I'll even get into the NBA because of it."

Scott became more and more excited as he spoke, "Hey Bruce, when the time comes, pass me the ball more, I'll show them my strong physical abilities! I'll definitely blind them with my dunks."

"I'm prepared for fame with this one battle."

Scott's eyes were firm and full of longing.

Seeing his look of admiration, Li Zhen smiled and nodded, agreeing, "Sure."
