Nikolai was taken aback. It wasn't the reply he was expecting to hear. But the princess was right. If the King could have consorts and concubines, why could the princess only have one husband?
"As far as I know, there aren't any laws in Serpentine that forbid a woman to have more than one husband. So long as all parties are agreeable, I don't see the issue," Athena grew increasingly confident as she found support for her statement.
However, when she realized Nikolai was still silent, she grew a little worried.
"Unless… you don't agree?" Athena asked as she pursed her lips.
Nikolai chuckled. He had never seen her look so worried. He held her hands in his tightly, kissing the back of her right hand gently.
