Chapter 1

In the past she was involved with a married man, and in the future she still suffers from the consequences.

Nina looks out the glass window of that place that now seemed more like her home than a place where people usually spend a season to recover. This season for her has already lasted a year.

He remembers how his life turned upside down from one moment to the next and now he lives running against time to save the life of the one he loves most.

Nina hears a moan and runs, sits on the bed and holds the small, delicate hands of her daughter, Hannah. She puts her hand on his forehead, checking his temperature. For a second, she breathes a sigh of relief, she's not feverish. It was just a second of relief, because her situation was not easy at all, the urge to cry comes, every day it comes, but no tears flow, they seem to have already dried. And she couldn't give herself the right to break down.

She holds the three-year-old girl's hand, closes her eyes and asks in thought: "Why, my God? Why did this have to happen to my Hannah?

She asks God every day, trying to understand how her daughter seems to be being punished for a mistake her mother made in the past.

In high school, Nina used to be a nerd who sat in the back of the class. She was withdrawn and was generally pointed out wherever she went by people, because of a very rare characteristic she possessed.

People told her that she was very strange, they asked if she had a disease, if she was blind, if she wore contact lenses... They even tried to stick their fingers in her eyes, trying to discover the secret behind them.

Nina had a very rare genetic characteristic, she had one eye of each color, something we call heterochromia.

This is so rare that many people can react in different ways when meeting someone like this, some are enchanted and others think that it must not be normal.

Children are generally very mean, and with Nina was no different. Due to a characteristic that wasn't bad at all, they thought she wasn't like them, and that was enough to make her suffer with isolation and notes.

But she wasn't alone, because as they say, when people are in the same situation, they tend to come together. That's why she had a friend, Julia.

Julia also suffered from comments and judgments, due to being overweight.

At 18 she went to college and at that moment she was her own man.

Many things started to happen, and his life took an unexpected turn. It all started when she decided to get a job as a waitress in a cafeteria, to help her mother with college costs. In this job, she ended up having contact with different people and one of them looked at her curiously. The woman gave her a card, saying that she was a find, that she had a great future if she accepted that proposal.

This woman was a scout from a modeling agency. Nina, having nothing to lose, went to the agency to take the test and was immediately accepted. They told him they were looking for someone like that, with a different and mysterious appearance.

As a model, she was called to do many jobs and met many different people. She was called for photo shoots, fashion shows and even to participate in parties, as a promoter.

She accepted most of the jobs, not because she was deluding herself with all the brilliance of that life, but because what she earned was enough to support herself and pay for college, thus saving her mother's efforts.

At one of these parties, Nina met Samuel. He, a man much older than her, was around 35 years old. He had a seductive appearance, very clear blue eyes and a haughty look. His hair was a golden tone, he was tall and dressed like a gentleman. He was like a prince that any young and inexperienced girl ever dreamed of in life.

Samuel was enchanted by the sweetness and shy way that Nina looked at him. Not to mention her face, which was of unparalleled beauty beyond the colors of her eyes, where one iris was green and the other honey.

Nina had hair as black as night, her lips were naturally red, her eyes were large and her eyelashes were voluminous.

Her legs were slender and when she walked she had a natural elegance. Maybe it's because we always associate elegance with tall women, but Nina had something about her that caught our attention. There was no arrogance or arrogance, she was simply naturally that way.

Something that perhaps blossomed with maturity and cannot be seen in adolescence. Something that she herself was not aware of.

Samuel, always flirtatious, didn't take long to approach. And the first sentence was said:

"Hi," he said, sending blushes to her cheeks and making her look away.

Samuel waited for her to have the courage to look at him again and continued.

— May I know the name of the girl who just stole my heart?

Involuntarily she smiled. And that smile was the beginning of everything, it was from that damn smile that her life went to heaven and went down to hell, very quickly.

Despite the inevitable attraction, Nina didn't pay much attention to him. She was at the party for work, just welcoming guests and helping them. Obviously, Samuel didn't stop looking around, he almost always passed by her, not hiding his gaze.

The party was over and he didn't give up on finding the mysterious girl and it wasn't difficult to find Nina. Looking for a model who had different colored eyes didn't require much effort.

Samuel sent gifts, messages and invitations to meetings. He knew what to say to an inexperienced girl. He had a gift for manipulating people.

With that, Nina ended up falling for his trick and getting involved with him.

She fell in love with the wrong man and ended up losing her virginity to someone who didn't deserve it.

Samuel acted strangely, avoiding appearing in public with her. He rented an apartment in a wealthy neighborhood for her to live in. And their meetings were usually there. He went on to tell her that he was a very busy man, and that's why he didn't have time to hang out with her, go to restaurants or go to the movies.

Everything was very strange, she discovered that the apartment rental contract was not in Samuel's name, but rather that of a third person.

But before she could ask him about it, the bomb went off.

On one of the rare weekends that Samuel was home, Nina woke up to the doorbell ringing.

She stretched and looked at the man sleeping next to her. Her face was serene and he slept like an angel. His hair, which was almost always combed to the side and always tidy, was at that moment attractively messy.

She smiled, put on a robe and walked, leaving the room and then heading towards the front door.

Everything was silent and everyday, but when he opened the door, what he never imagined happened.

A woman, Kira, pushed her and broke into the apartment, she screamed like crazy:

- Where is he?! Where is that bastard!

Before Nina could react, she was grabbed by the hair by a second woman, whom she didn't know, but now knew that she was Rosalia, Samuel's mother.

Rosalia slapped Nina, calling her names, while Kira ran around the apartment, looking for her cheating husband. She screamed and knocked everything down, breaking what she saw in front of her.

That day Nina discovered that she was deceived and used... because of Samuel's lie, she was beaten, cursed and humiliated.

It was just chaos, neighbors came out of their homes to look, exposing her to even more ridicule.

At some point, Rosalia let go of Nina and went to fight with Samuel, who was trying to say that he could explain the inexplicable.

Taking advantage of being free, she left that apartment. She ran down the emergency stairs until she left the building.

She ran, desperate, wanting to get as far away from it all as possible.

Nina ran through the streets and people stopped to look. She was dressed in a torn nightgown, barefoot, disheveled and with a bruised face.

She crossed the street and continued to run, and as she ran, she wiped her tears with the back of her hands.

Everything happened very quickly, he barely took his hands off his eyes and felt his body hit something hard.

It hurt, but at the same time it was comforting. She hit a man, who held her in his arms. When he went to look at her face, her eyes went dark and she passed out in the arms of a stranger.
