Chapter 23: Making New Plans

*Rosie Fay-Donovan*

The sun was still out when I left to return home. Ezra arrived with Maya and Carter, and I told Sienna I needed to get some rest before I went back to work the next day, so I played with the kids for a couple of minutes and left.

I still had a headache and I could use some time in my bed with a bowl of popcorn and a nice TV show. It had been a while since I had done that, and I couldn’t think of a better way to spend the rest of my day.

The house was relatively quiet when I arrived, only a weak noise coming from the kitchen, which I assumed was caused by Ruby preparing dinner. I pondered going in there to tell her I’d order some junk food tonight, but I was too lazy to do it.

Whatever she had prepared, if I wasn’t in the mood for it, I could have it as lunch the next day. She and Johnnie also had to eat, and I wasn’t sure what Archie would do. I didn’t even know if he was home.
