By the time the interviews, statements and initial details of the shooting had been completed – most of those taking place with Keith safely away from the scene, disarmed and waiting in private agony back at the state police post with his union representative who hadn’t even been briefed as to what she was doing there in the first place. The poor union rep barely had two years on the job and didn’t know what to do except to offer Keith water so many times he finally took one just to shut the guy up.
He had spoken to a union attorney to establish that attorney/client privilege – and of course the lawyer said do not speak to anyone, and by that time it was already too late. The legal team’s assertion was that the investigators had body camera footage and that was all they needed. Any explanations or statements made by Keith would most likely only be used against him.
