CHAPTER 17: SUSPICIOUS PACKAGES

Billy Joel’s hit song ‘Only the Good Die Young’ was released in 1977 off his platinum selling album ‘The Stranger’, and went on to become one of the star’s biggest and most beloved hits. ‘I would rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints’ was one of the songs most endearing lyrics, and Keith was – for some inexplicable reason – singing that tune just after midnight while he was walking along the wooden riverwalk near the train bridge.

The riverwalk was lined with gentle walking lights, lookout spots and slots for fishing poles. Built by a local company, it also featured little plaques honoring and thanking the people who stepped up to donate to the project.

With the threat now of a rain looming as clouds rolling the valley – and even a few sprinkles or mist beginning to blanket the area – Keith walked alone for a bit, finally coming to an outlook area where he leaned against the railing and look out over the water.
