*Alistair*
Having taken in the half-broken, astonished, and horribly terrified look from Daphne, Alistair was able to rule out two things in that very moment.
One: Daphne had truly no idea of Rowan’s family connections, which meant she had no actual intentions of going after the Blackwood fortune.
Two: Due to the first implication, this also meant that whatever feelings she shared for Rowan were purely genuine, and not driven by some other incentive.
‘She didn’t even know who’s ring she was wearing on her finger this whole time,’ he thought amazingly to himself. ‘This poor girl has been kept in the dark for God knows how long.’
Blackwood forced himself to tear his eyes from the trembling woman to glare at his son. Rowan. The man that just stood there looking chipper as all hell.
