Chapter 35: Worries and Doubts

*Daphne*

A few weeks had gone by since Evelyn had been escorted out of the manor. Daphne hadn’t spoken to the woman, nor had the inclination to see her before she left.

All Daphne could remember seeing was a large pile of suitcases and bags being lined up at the front doors. It made her stomach flip with continuous guilt.

‘Am I seriously the reason why this family has fallen apart?’ she kept asking herself.

She couldn’t get Evelyn’s disturbing words out of her head. No matter how much she tried to move past the memory of their confrontation it still felt too fresh in her mind.

Lila and Tori didn’t appear too unsettled by the fact that their brother basically exiled their own mother to France. And Alistair... seemed more at ease than she would have expected.
