A ding~ sound of an oven makes the previously day dreaming Neva to gain back consciousness—informing her about the time that elapsed.
She abruptly places down the novel she had been engrossed in and gets off the white marble kitchen counter. Hastily wearing the oven mitts, she clicks a button to turn off the cooking cycle. Swiftly taking the tray out, the smell of freshly baked chocolate cookies, floats in her nose, tingling her senses tingle. She smiles, satisfied.
"I'm back~" Out of nowhere, a loud manly sing-songing voice resonates throughout the apartment.
She waits for him inside the kitchen, placing the hot cookies on a steel cooling rack. Laying it on the dining table to let it cool.
"Angel I'm back!" Rhett happily hops inside the kitchen, grinning seeing his beloved's face.
"I see, I see," Neva responds, nodding casually.
Rhett's gaze lands on the fiery hot chocolate cookies.
"Is it done?" Rhett glances at her, to which Neva nods in response.
Rashly throwing around the groceries the bewitched man shuffles towards her.
Bending his back, he iinitially inhales them deeply, "Hmm, smells sooo good,"
Just when he curls his fingers to devour the appetizing cookies—Neva's hand slaps his own.
"Oww! Why?" He exclaims, rubbing his right dorsal hands with his left palmer side.
"It's hot," Neva warns. "Oh..." Rhett nods in realization.
"How long will it take to cool down?" He pouts.
"It will soon." Saying, Neva saunters towards the abandoned grocery bags, dispositioned on the floor messily.
"Have you brought everything I asked?" Neva probes, walking towards the dining table with the grocery bags in her grip.
"Yes!" He replies, nodding repeatedly.
"Angel, I can't wait. I want to munch on them now!" Rhett complains, just like a little boy.
"Have patience," she takes the groceries out, one after another—arranging the goods.
With her peripheral vision, she sees him drooling over the cookies. Hardly controlling himself from going all out and gobbling them whole.
She sighs, such a restless guy. Worrying he would burn his mouth she picks up a piece—all the while Rhett's sharp gaze trailing her moves.
It's still really heated. But nothing she cannot handle. She blows on it, for several seconds later. She brings the cookie near Rhett's mouth.
Who obediently hasn't touched any of them, yet...
"Try it," Neva apprises. His eyes brightens up, melting her heart like an ice-cream.
Closening, Rhett bites the whole thing in. His lips grazing her slender fingers, Neva feels shivers running down her spine.
He dramatically closes his eyes in delight, moaning in pleasure, the warm chocolate's wet moisture melting in his mouth.
"Is it good?" Neva asks, biting her lips. Rhett nods, appearing to be in daze.
"Took me to heaven!" He exclaims, licking his lips.
Neva chuckles, continuing rranging the groceries.
"Rhett where's the packet of rice?" Crossing her arms over the chest she glares at the clueless guy.
"Rice? It must be there," He shrugs.
"It isn't here. I've checked thrice! You! What will we have for dinner?" Neva rages, scowling at him.
"Did I forget? Well then, chocolate cookies for dinner." Rhett suggests, grinning happily.
Neva fumes irritated. "Go back to the store or else no dinner for you!"
Rhett's eyes widens alike a disc. "No! You're cruel! I'm worn out. Why don't we just eat cookies?"
The space between her brows crumples so hard in anger.
For a long while, the unnamed couple keeps bickering like an old husband and wife...
"You get nothing!" Neva concludes, preparing a jar.
"I'm sorry," Rhett falsely cries out.
---
After a lot of trouble and quarelling over who goes to fetch tonight's dinner. Neva finally makes a choice.
"Why are you tailing me now?" Neva inquires while fixing her scarf.
"What would I do if some bad guys kidnapped you? Young lady, don't you fear?!" Rhett reasons with wide eyes.
Neva glancing at him huffs, exhausted to squabble for today.
Having made it to the convenience store, Neva is busy inspecting the variety of packed rice, as Rhett walks beside her close, pushing the cart.
Although, this evening, Rhett was unusually guarded. His prodigious senses alerting him of someone creeping in on them.
"Rhett do you need anything else?" Neva asks.
"No, have you finished?" Rhett returns.
She nods, she frowns, something was off about him today. "Is something wrong?"
Rhett smiles at her and shakes his head. "If you're done, let's leave."
---
Alas, Neva and Rhett reaches their apartment building. The whole way from the store to here, he knew someone was following them.
"You head back in first, I've got to make a call." He says, opening the door for her.
"Alright, don't take too long—or else the cookies will be gone." She giggles, sauntering inside.
"No fair!" Rhett exclaims, deception is what he feels.
After making sure she is inside safe, his expression turns grim.
Heading towards a secluded area within the compound, he gets the pistol out his jeans.
"Reveal yourself." He exhorts in a sonorous, threatening tone.
A shadowy figure, concealed in the dark of trees by the wall—slyly he crawls out into the dim light.
He was covered in black—head to toe.
His lowered head, and masked face hidden behind the hood.
"What do you want?" He urges, the pistol aimed at him.
The tall, slenderly built man pulls down his hood and removes the mask, revealing himself.
Rhett forrows his eyebrows. Lowering the weapon he sighs agitated.
"Explain Ace." Rhett demands harshly, placing his gun, in the back of his jeans.
Ace's lips curves up in the end as he strolls towards Rhett.
"Damn! Boss, did you get a girlfriend? Your woman's a real hotty!" He asks, smirking at him, his blue eyes glinting.
And with a smooth glide to fetch the dagger strapped in his ankle—Rhett flings the blade at the blabbering guy.
The dagger flies towards Ace, but he leisurely ceases it, the blunt handle in his grip, right before it could stab his eye. "Whoa!" He exclaims, heart racing.
"Don't you dare!" He glares at him, warning him—aware of his playboy nature.
Hinting his anger, he raises both his arms in defense.
"Just kidding Boss. I don't dare steal a lover from Leader Czar." He shrugs his shoulders, grinning with strain, showing off his straight pearly whites.
"Why the fuck are you even here?" Rhett spits out coldly.
"Elk send me here." Ace returns.
"I'm on leave." He remarks, turning to leave.
"Boss have some pity on us." Ace exults, begging, almost tearing up. He's always miserably squeezed between Elk and Czar.
"Elk won't let us be if you don't relent. He warned that he'll fire you, and all of us too." Ace reacts, beseeching faced with a nonchalant Rhett's broad back. Well he lied the last part.
Rhett scoffs, finally glancing at Ace over his shoulder. "Inform the pawky old man to kindly fuck off!"
The dumbfounded Ace is left behind. Sighing, he shakes his head—pulling the hood over his head.
Glancing one last time at the apartment Rhett dissapeared within, he smacks his lips and turns around to leave the compound.
It was bewildering his aloof leader could even bag a woman, and even such a ravishing one. And it seemed more than just a fling.
He had a lot more to unravel about Czar.
But right now, his mind is a battlefield—mentally he prepares to defend himself with with his other Boss's oncoming rage.
