Lost everything (chapter 13)

After a week Jennie got back to work,she was given her position back, her father treated her a little better,he would greet her and also try to have a conversation with her,her brother tried his best to humiliate her but she ignored him, this disturbed him alot but Jennie wasn't afraid of him,he couldn't break her because she was already broken,her mother looked depressed and always in deep thoughts she seemed to want to say something to her but didn't say,though Jennie was happy with the improvement of the relationship between her and her father she couldn't be happy.Every night she would have terrifying nightmare,she would cry herself to sleep,she was wronged but she couldn't do anything,she was in pain but she couldn't share it,she was scared that no one will believe her,if people knew what happened to her they will laugh and mock her,she didn't want to destroy their already progressing relationship with her father.

Days went by and one month was over since that crazy night,Jennie sat on her office in a daze,she looked troubled and depressed,she kept looking at her phone and counting numbers."What's happening ?" she said within herself,she was in distress,she had immersed herself at work since she got back to work so she could forget everything,she hardly stayed idle but something about that night kept on bothering her.She hoped that her fears won't come true,she had missed her periods,she feared she was pregnant but hoped that the delay was caused due to mental stress.Jennie was off from work and she decided to pass by the pharmacy, afterwards she went straight home and locked herself in her room.she knew if she was really pregnant then her life was over,she stayed on her bed in deep thoughts she didn't know what to do,she felt lost and confused,she was scared,she did the test.

Jennie stood in her bathroom in shock,she held a pregnancy test kit in her hands it showed positive,"no this can't be,maybe it's a mistake" she said shaking her head tears forming in her eyes,she threw the test kit and did more two tests but the results were the same,Jennie kept on shaking her head in denial,she hoped the test kits had some faults in them,she couldn't stop crying,now she was pregnant out of wedlock and worse she didn't know the father of her child,after sometime she calmed down and stood up,she decided to take a walk,she needed to think of a solution,she didn't want to turnish her father's name,she didn't want people to mock and laugh at her family,she knew how reputation was important to her father,no one knew she had left.Jacob was in his father's study." There is a contract I want you to get"he said looking at his son with a serious expression,"where is your sister I thought I told you I wanted to talk to both of you" "she is in her room you can tell me about the contract I will discuss with her on how to get it" he replied,he was annoyed that his father included her in trying to get the contract,before only he was given the responsibility of trying to get a contract."No call her this is very important I want you to work together in this" Jacob nodded his head and left to call his sister.

He kept on knocking on her door but no one answered,he got angry and pushed the door open,he assumed that her sister was ignoring her,but there was no one in the room he decided to leave but before he could he was shocked by what he saw,he left immediately and called his father."What happened?" asked Mr Louis with worried expression,", did something happen to your sister".Jacob shook his head "no dad please follow me I have something to show you" he replied .Mr Louis followed his son they went to Jennie room,he was shocked "why did you bring me to your sister's room" he asked " where is she?" but Jacob didn't answer he pointed at the transhbin and Mr Louis almost fainted,he was shocked beyond words,he could believe what he saw."What's the meaning of this?" he asked angrily "how is she pregnant?" even Jacob wondered how she got pregnant she never had a boyfriend,he couldn't wait to watch the drama.

Mr Louis left angrily followed by his son,Jennie was done taking a walk,she had thought hard but couldn't come up with a solution,She got in the house and was suprised to see her brother seated and her father pacing around,she become nervous and scared,he seemed very angry,she tried guessing what could have made him so angry but she couldn't find a answer.She gulped and decided to ask him but before she could ask he stared at her angryly,she had a bad feeling about why her father looked angry.

"Are you pregnant?"he asked seething with anger,his face was red due to extreme anger,Jennie felt her legs go soft,her heartbeat increased and she couldn't breath well.She didn't know how her father had found out,she didn't tell anyone so how did he find out."Answer me" he saidly loudly, Jennie nodded her head,Mr Louis felt like he had been splashed with cold water,due to the commotion Mrs Louis come downstairs,she found his husband shouting at Jennie,she was suprised and asked "why are you shouting at her?" he looked at her angryly and said "ask her" Mrs Louis looked at her daughter worriedly."Who is the father?" he asked "I don't know" Jennie replied.Mr Louis slapped her hard on the face,her mother was shocked "tell me who the father is" Jennie was shaking due to fear,her face stung tears formed in her eyes," I don't know" she replied." Why don't you know?, did you sleep with many men that you can't say who the father is?" Jennie felt hurt by her father comment she wept silently she didn't reply"how could you get pregnant out of wedlock?is this how a woman should behave?,I don't care who the father is,I won't let you turnish my name and make us a laughing stock, tomorrow you're going to the clinic you will get rid of that baby and this is not a negotiation" he said and left angrily.Mrs Louis stood there without moving tears in her eyes,she couldn't look at her daughter,she didn't say anything and left.Jennie stood at the same position weeping her brother who had been silent the whole time clicked his tongue in annoyance " why are you crying? didn't you not know you can get pregnant when you slept with a man?" he asked,Jennie looked at him with hatred "I didn't know your were this dirty, sleeping around and getting pregnant,father now knows that you're just useless and immoral,I'll get all the inheritance while he marries you to unlucky man" with that he left with a smile on his face.Everything was now lost she was left with nothing not even her dignity,she felt bitter and miserable,she felt tired with her life.
