Chapter four

Flash back

Stepping off the train, I lifted my top hat to my passenger friend that I talked to the whole entire trip. I feel a mixture of excitement and relief that we have finally made it.

Hours later, I stepped through the hotel doors, and fancy music filled my ears. The beautiful sound of the violin went perfectly with the smell of lavender. The lobby was printed bright colors, which made the black and white checkered floor stand out.

"Sir welcome," a young man gathered my belongings. I knew they would meet me in my hotel room. Which wasn't just any hotel room, it was the biggest suite they had to offer.

After a few moments of conversation, I was handed my key to my room. After giving a few dirty looks to some obvious underclassmen, I walk to my room. I have no idea why underclassmen were in a luxurious hotel like this. But they can't always weed out the rats.

Once on the other side of my door, I can already hear music coming from my room. That's strange. I double check the key card to make sure the number matches on the door. To my surprise, I did have the right room. Somebody must have left the music going when they were cleaning the room.

Putting the key into the lock, I turn it.

Once the door is open, to my surprise, I see Eleanor sitting on the bed. I feel the huge smile take over my face.

"I thought you couldn't get the day off."

Eleanor was a dedicated teacher. She loved her students so much and made sure every single one exceeded, even though they were on different learning levels.

"I was able to give the students a couple days off."

She gets that wild twinkle in her eye. And I couldn't help but laugh.

"Surprised," she asked me, lifting up her eyebrow.

I nod. "Very."

Bringing my lips to hers, I kiss her passionately and let the taste of her lips overwhelm me. Once our kiss was finally over. I whisper in her ear, "I am so glad that you're here."

After making love in a beautiful hotel suite, Eleanor and I sit in a restaurant, one so fancy you need reservations a month in advance, but luckily they pull some strings for me.

"You are a very good actress, you know."

She laughed, showing her pure white teeth. "Maybe I'll switch my career."

Soon, the waitress sets down the dishes at our table. I ordered the liver and onions, and Eleanor got Portobello stuffed raviolis.

"This garden is so delightful," Eeanor tells me as we walk through the garden at the hotel. This was where we went directly after dinner. It didn't take us long to finish our dinner, and dessert was mouthwatering. I consumed a piece of caramel cheesecake, and Eleanor had apple crisps with vanilla ice cream on top. Of course, we traded spoonfuls, and both desserts were desirable.

Looking at all these lavender flowers, the smell that hits my nose reminds me of my wedding day just a few years ago.
