[29] Aoi Kiriyama

Chapter 29: Aoi Kiriyama

The work wasn't scheduled for the morning but rather in the afternoon.

By a little past two, Yuta arrived at the apartment of the friend introduced by Kaoruko Fujiwara.

The place wasn't far from Kaoruko's residence; it was in the same apartment building.

Yuta accepted this task not only because he needed a job but also because he was curious about the woman he was about to meet.

He wondered what kind of person she was.

Calming himself, Yuta pressed the doorbell.

At first, there was no response. After waiting for half a minute, he heard footsteps coming from inside the apartment.

Soon, a woman in a bathrobe appeared. She opened the door, furrowing her brows as she looked at Yuta.

"Are you the one Kaoruko introduced?"

Yuta felt a bit disappointed. She wasn't a young girl but seemed to be around twenty-four or twenty-five. With short city-girl hair and wearing earrings, her distant expression and furrowed brow made her look as though she was examining Yuta with the same disinterested gaze one might use for a street lamp.

"Yes, Professor Fujiwara sent me to help with some housework. Please let me know what needs to be done, and I'll take care of it as quickly as possible." Yuta's interest in her waned instantly; he was only focused on completing the task.

The side mission required him to fulfill the work duties, so as long as he did that, it would be enough.

Finish today, and there would be no need to come back in the future.

"Come in," the woman said, stepping aside to let Yuta enter, but her attitude was dismissive and lacking any hospitality.

Yuta walked in, trying not to focus on her. She was wearing a bathrobe, and he wanted to avoid any unnecessary misunderstandings.

After closing the door, the woman glanced at Yuta again, "You're quite average-looking. I don't understand why Kaoruko sent you. I'm not interested in people like you, so don't get any wrong ideas."

Yuta wasn't offended. It was actually better this way. He had no interest in her either and didn't want any interaction beyond the task.

"Of course, let me introduce myself. I'm Yuta Segawa. I'm here to handle the housework. What would you like me to do?" he asked.

"I'm Aoi Kiriyama. Although I don't quite understand what Kaoruko is thinking, I'll just go along with her wishes. For now, you're my servant," Aoi Kiriyama said, then walked out. "Follow me."

Yuta followed without much concern. From an outward appearance, she was indeed a beautiful woman.

She wore perfect light makeup, had striking crystal nails, and her bathrobe revealed long, slender legs. She exuded the aura of a wealthy young woman.

However, Yuta didn't think he would have much in common with someone like her. He preferred down-to-earth, friendly people rather than those who seemed difficult to approach.

Though he thought this, he could still smell the perfume she wore—a strong, feminine fragrance.

Aoi Kiriyama spoke little and seemed to have a strong personality, but her femininity was undeniable.

As Yuta followed her, he found that the luxurious surroundings seemed less impressive compared to her presence. She gave off the impression of being a high-born heiress, though Yuta wasn't familiar with such social circles. She seemed to be the daughter of a wealthy family.

Even though she was a wealthy young lady, she didn't appear to be at the level where she would hire maids, indicating she lived alone.

Living in such a large house alone—didn't that feel a bit excessive?

Yuta didn't understand the mindset of the wealthy and could only feel envious.

"Come over and throw these away," Aoi Kiriyama said, standing by a table cluttered with large bouquets of flowers.

Yuta approached and noticed that these bouquets were more like those used for proposals.

Indeed, the table was covered with roses, making the place look like a flower shop.

Yuta noticed that the cards attached to the roses were proposals, with messages like "Will you marry me?"

Clearly, these were all gifts from suitors trying to win Aoi Kiriyama's favor, highlighting her considerable allure.

"Throw all these away?" Yuta asked, picking up one of the proposal cards.

Seeing Yuta hesitating, Aoi Kiriyama calmly reached out to snatch the card from his hand, intending to get rid of these items without delay.

"I said these are trash, and they are trash!"

Yuta quickly stepped back to avoid contact, not wanting to get any closer to her.

"Alright, I'll throw them away. I was just wondering if these would fill up the trash can," Yuta said with a smile. He then lifted the table, "Do you still need this table?"

Though the task was to dispose of trash, Yuta didn't have any personal connection with Aoi's suitors, so he saw no reason not to dispose of everything, including the table if necessary.

Aoi Kiriyama watched as Yuta lifted the table with surprising ease, raising her eyebrows slightly. He had more strength than she expected.

However, Aoi Kiriyama preferred not to deal with someone who relied on physical strength. She was more annoyed by the fact that he seemed to treat her so lightly.

Isn't my charm enough to impress him?

No, it must be because I am charming, and he's showing off in front of me.

Wait...

Aoi Kiriyama felt something was off. This young man seemed completely unafraid of her, despite her being older and more intimidating. He didn't seem nervous at all.

Seeing that Aoi Kiriyama wasn't responding, Yuta casually set the table down, picked up a large bundle of roses, and headed outside.

"I'll take out the trash now and be back soon."

The recent system rewards had improved Yuta's strength and stamina, allowing him to lift over a hundred pounds and hold it for more than ten minutes. This task was easy for him, and he finished it in just five minutes without tiring.

Aoi Kiriyama watched as Yuta disposed of the trash and cleaned up the scattered rose petals. Once he was done, she said, "Not bad. You worked quickly and didn't waste time with idle talk. That's all for today. Come back tomorrow."

Yuta smiled, pleased with how smoothly the task went.

"Then I'll leave now. I have some things to take care of at home, so I won't be coming back in the future. I'll inform Professor Fujihara," he said as he finished his task. "Though it might not be my place to say, I'm really glad I could help you get rid of those things and reject all those suitors!"

Aoi Kiriyama felt a tinge of irritation. Just as she was starting to take an interest, Yuta was already quitting. She wondered what Kaoruko had in mind when she sent him.
