Chapter 5.5: Dream

My head throbbed with a dull aching sensation. I heard the faint sounds of someone exclaiming as I involuntarily let my head droop further and further down as I descended into the abyss of my dreamscape.

I hazily stumbled through the ocean-like landscape. Feeling the water rush on my feet and the seaweed trickle across my heels. I felt my vision being forced up by my instincts as I began to take in the captivating sight. All my sight was taken into the horizon of my dream. The sun was falling elegantly down onto the the middle of my view. As it set, a gorgeous extensive array of colours spread out amongst my peripheral. Dark orange mixed in with light pink shaded at the edges with a slurring blue. The whole sky felt fluid as it skulked around the dream-sky.

''It's beautiful, right?'' I turned around in shock to see the figure of that familiar friend grinning like an idiot.

''Yeah, I love it.'' I responded, yet didn't. Although the words were echoed in my mind, the words never left my mouth but yet she still seemed to understand.

''You wanna head off with me? We can explore this place forever, Jake.'' The pale white dress floating around Alyssa's body. Her pale skin even more beautiful in my mind. The dress fluttered against my hand as I felt her small palm grasp mine. Full of conviction and energy.

As she took my hand, she twisted elegantly to face me. Her hand still in mine. Her face titled ever so slightly. She opened her mouth as her beautiful mannerism turned into something more familiar as then let go of my hand and lifted it in the air- as her hand sliced through the air.

''WAKE UP!'' I felt a chop on the back of my head as I turned to face my aggressor.

''Alyssa?'' I questioned, still hazy from my adventure my mind thrusted me into involuntarily.

I felt another hard chop on my head as I shook myself to wake myself up. The soreness of my neck throbbing annoyingly. I grimaced my eyes open and to my dismay what faced me was the not so elegant, incredibly pissed face of my teacher.

'Alyssa, huh? Get yourself together, Jake. We've got exams coming up.'' At that hideous word, I heard the real Alyssa next to me jolt up in shock at remembering that. At the same time, I forced my head up as I saw the teacher walk back to the front of the class and begin finishing off whatever he was on about.

Still out of it, I turned to face Alyssa as she seemed focused on the lesson. I stared at her for a bit longer which made her swivel her head around and look at me with that ever so familiar grin on her face.

''Dreaming about me, huh?'' She said in a teasing tone as she let out a giggle in response to my bewilderment as I immediately turned away, facing the desk to hide my red cheeks.

I took another peek and gazed across Alyssa's face. Perusing the sight in front of my eyes, I started at her hair. Her golden hair softly danced in the breeze of the wind that tumbled in from the slight opening in the window. I gazed my eyes down to hers as I was caught off by her cheeks. A light tone of red seemed to be spread across them, almost like blushing. I accidentally made eye contact with her as we both gazed into each others eyes for a few seconds before quickly averting our gazes.

Now we were both blushing.
