Chapter 6 - first day

Serina went home later that day and told her family about the good news. They were all happy for her. But she was scared for herself because of how rude her voice was. The first day, she thought he might have been in a bad mood but now she knows that it's his life. 

 The next day, Laura and Ira met at a cafe as insisted by Laura."Hey Ira"

"Hi there Laura. How have you been?"

"I was under the clouds few days ago but I am fine now you?"

"Gald to hear."

"Ira, did your sister get the job she was in search of?"

"Yes she did"

"We thank God this calls for celebration. Let's go for shopping "

"Laura..."

"Please don't say no. Please I insist"

"Okay just this once"

"Thank you very much I am so excited. Let's go now".

Ira and Laura went out after that. They had a lot of fun. Laura admired Ira a lot she wanted her around her always. She felt safe and welcomed around her. She was one of the few people who didn't friend her because of the money she had but out of love, care and sincerity. After having too much fun, Laura dropped Ira home and also left.

The next day was a Monday, Serina woke up very early in the morning, prepared breakfast dressed up for work without saying goodbye to her dad . She dropped Ira at the school and headed for work. When she arrived there,she sighed and entered the office she look the elevator and went to the 100th floor where her boss was. She stood at the door knob for a while before entering. When she entered, Mr. Nicklaus was already there. Her eyes widened when so thought to herself "where did I leave my manners" she finally spoke out loud.

" I'm sorry I didn't knock sir I didn't know you will be here this early". Nicklaus did not speak he just stared at her angrily but did well to hide it after a brief moment, he spoke

"Get me a cup of black coffee with no milk and sugar"

"Okay sir. I will be right back"

She left because she did not want to asked any questions for him to act rude so she left and asked where she could get the black coffee from Richard. After getting the coffee, she returned to the office and gave the cup of coffee to Nicklaus. She was about leaving when Nicklaus pointed out to her 35 piled files and said

" Review these files and make sure everything is clear "

"Ok sir I will start now "

" You have to finish that today because we will be meeting a client at 10 am tomorrow morning "

"But sir..."

Nicklaus gave her a deadly stare and she swallowed her words and nodded in agreement.

Serina read and checked through from one file to the other . Her eyes hurt she missed break she could not go to pick Ira up from school. Everyone had closed by then the office was nearly deserted . Nicklaus watched her read from one file to the other with a cup of coffee in his hands as and smiled as he was pleased with what the saw she was suffering and that was what he wanted.

Months passed and Serina hasn't been finding it easy in the office. Nicklaus managed to put her in a state that she will always be helpless. She no longer picked Ira from school, she no longer spent time with her family not to even talk of cooking. She always arrived home exhausted. She wished the coffee shop was still alive but no it wasn't. Life in the office was very stressful for her.
