Taunt Part 1

Melina asked Adrian to train Eve? No way, she knew that there was bad blood between them.

It's extremely likely that Adrian came up with a bullshit lie on the spot to have revenge on Eve for the unholy sandwich if it can even be called a sandwich in the first place.

'Is this what the system meant by medium danger?'

The thing about the system and what made it special was that it operated using a complex algorithm.

It's not up to the level of artificial intelligence yet but it can gather evidence and come up with likely scenarios if a mission were to fail.

The result was put on a mission's danger and penalty section.

Nevertheless, it's not omniscient, far from it.

During the test runs a couple of weeks back, the amount of mistakes was staggering.

Most of the time, the algorithm always overthought and exaggerated the consequences.

For example, let's say Melina issued a mission about taking out the trash. Eve would pick up the bag, and go to the trash bin but instead of properly putting it in, he throws it onto the sidewalk.

If that were what happened, then the algorithm would go berserk in its calculations.

Either a stray animal or a car would damage the trash bag, which would spill out its contents.

Wind would carry the lighter trash and heavy rain and flood would spread the heavier ones.

It would result in trash getting into the water supply, food, or other places and would cause considerable harm to the environment or to the people.

Although low, the possibility of it happening is there hence the system would put 'Damage to the Environment', and 'Harm people' in the result in the penalty section.

Eve had ignored this mission's penalty section because he thought it was exaggerating the consequences through unlikely coincidences but it turns out the system might have been right.

'I might really die.'

The thought caused him to shudder and he checked the time.

12:38 pm

Roughly 22 minutes until the promised time.

Although it was hidden well, the malice in Adrian's eyes was noticeable.

'It is what it is.'

Adrian was strong for sure, but he was not the type to be fearful of.

Now, if Melina asked Arco to train him… he might have considered escaping.

'It's a good opportunity to test out my increased stamina. Besides, learning how to fight will only benefit me later down the road.

Sure, I might not be assigned combat missions like Arco but learning how to fight properly means that my performance during combat evaluation every fight will be higher which translates to more Exp.

I need to learn how to take maximum advantage of every fight when it appears.'

[Mission, Cook breakfast, completed]

[Reward: 5 Exp has been claimed. Reputation has increased by a minuscule margin]

'5 Exp… that's worth 0.02 stat points. I will let it be since I don't feel like passing out only for 0.02 points.'

Since he had nothing to do, he left the building and made his way to the warehouse.

This whole area used to belong to a delivery corporation that doesn't exist today. The house and the warehouse were remnants of it.

The warehouse in itself wasn't anything special. It was big for sure but it was also a bit rusty and unstable.

It clearly didn't receive as much love and care as the building did.

It was also empty as well. A concrete area with a length of 400 meters and 300 meters width with moss growing on it.

In some parts, the concrete was crackedor dented, making it a tripping hazard.

Steel rods formed the basic shape of the warehouse and plastic plates were fixed onto those rods to create the walls and the roof.

Some plates were broken or missing, causing the sun to shine through.

In the middle section of the warehouse, was a big rubble of broken concrete and tiles with a giant hole on top of it. It was starting to collapse from the middle.

And sitting on top of those rubble, was Adrian.

He wore a different outfit, a black and white tuxedo with a tie.

'He really wants to beat me up.'

So much so that he wore a literal suit that cost quite a bit.

"You're 3 minutes early." Adrian started first. "Eager to get your ass busted?"

"The walk here was shorter than I thought." Eve shrugged. "You know, wearing a suit inside this warehouse is not a good idea. It will get dirty."

"Ha! Just the thought of smashing that face of yours alone deserves a party."

"I don't know about it since I'm not you but being angry over something that hasn't even happened yet seems unreasonably pathetic."

"Unreasonably pathetic? Do you know what you did?"

"Killed everyone, who doesn't know that? Are you saying that you beat me up for no reason because you don't even know what happened in the future?"

Eve stared at the bulging veins of Adrian, After the initial memory awakening at Jonathan's house, he went through a few similar memory awakening processes.

They weren't anything drastic, just a bit of information that the Ravager stumbled upon during his life.

Such as how the military responded to the attack of the Outlanders, the good strategies they employed, and the mistakes they made, they analyzed his memories like memory scholars.

"You bitch, you ate my sister! IN FRONT OF ME!"

'Oh.'

Apparently, Eve was a cannibal now. Another one was added to his resume.

"How am I supposed to remember that? Besides, what do you want from me? Apologizing for something that didn't even happen?

Why do you trust Melina that much in the first place? She is the daughter of a rich doctor, as far as we know, this whole soul power and return to the past thingy could be a hoax.

The 'thing' you feel when you fulfill your Harvest Condition might just be the result of a drug she put into your system.

Why were you even chosen in the first place? Have you ever thought about that? Or do you think you are some tragic hero who found a second chance via a goddess and is trying to carry out your revenge?"

Adrian was seething now. His dark marble eyes became blood red, and his clenched fists trembled. His anger had passed the sane threshold and his voice was gone.

The only sound coming from him was the sound of him grinding his teeth.

Violence was forbidden within the group so Eve would have to settle with using words.

The punch from two months ago? Eve still felt angry about that.

Melina promised him that his Harvest Condition would be ready the day after that but since his proposed idea was quite wild and she was willing to take on the challenge, he was forced to heal naturally.

Naturally, Eve felt like shit for the first week, agony during the first month, and just pure pain until he got his harvest condition a few days ago.

The one thing Eve hated more than being labeled as a maniac before he even did anything was pain.

And Adrian was going to pay for putting him through the grinder.
