We stared in awkward silence as we stared at each other, baffled.
"You guys know each other?" My mom asked
"Uh, yeah, he's our new substitute professor at the school." I said gulping
"Well, let's go sit down to get this dinner started." Mr Lee, the father said, we headed to the dining room where everybody got a seat, with me facing Mr Lee, my professor.
"Okay, I think everybody for coming and attending this dinner, a special thanks to Mrs Kim who prepared this beautiful dinner and I am her to make an announcement that me and my late friend were supposed to make but he perishes in a fatal accident." Mr Lee said

As my dad finished his sentence, Abigail puts her head down, seemingly fiddling with her dress.
"Well, without further do, I am here to announce the contracted marriage between my son Lee Felix and Mr Kim's stepdaughter Abigail Morrelli. We are not her to fight but to celebrate a long-time commitment." I love my father but long-time commitment who? Their practically saying, we have no idea of each other's existence before today and we're getting married, what a world we live in.
"Okay, everybody dig in, you guys must be hungry." Mrs Kim said, pushing the awkward tension aside, real smooth.

"Mrs Kim, you never fail to impress me with your cooking!" My mom said, indeed, this was one of the best dishes I've ever tasted in my life, especially for that salad.
"Thank you, Mrs Lee, thank you everybody for eating, well now I think it's time to leave these two to talk, Abby please go talk to him in the garden." Mrs Kim said
"Mr Lee, follow me." Abigail said

Me and Mr Lee headed outside to the garden, it wasn't really a garden, it was more like a flower field.
" Here is pretty." Mr Lee said
"Yeah, thanks, Mr Lee." I said bowing
" We're not at school, you can stop being so formal." He sus
"Okay, umm, do we just stay in silence and go back inside 10 minutes later?" I said
"Yeah, you should give me your number so we can meet up, cause I think both of us are sh severally from shock." He said, kind of shocking me
"M-my number?" I said unintentionally stuttering
"Look, I know like it's weird that I'm you're teacher and we're getting married but what am I going to do? Never have my future wife's number?" He said crossing his arms jokingly
"Okay, it's um 45******39, can I ask what age you are?" I asked nervously
"Yeah, I'm 23, how about you?" He asked back
"I turned 19 in July." I answered
"Oh, 4 years apart, when my dad told me about this contract 2 years ago, I thought I was going to marry some 40 year old divorced lady but I'm relieved now." He said smiling, it's pretty.
His smile.
"Hm right, umm so when do you want to meet?" I asked
"I'll text you, I don't have a fixed clear schedule, I'm balancing being a professor and taking care of my dad's company as his retirement day is coming up." He said
"Let's go back inside-" I said turning around
"By the way, are you uncomfortable with talking to me?" He said for the first time looking anxious
"I'm not uncomfortable, I'm just nervous to talk to new people."
"Okay, let's go." He said
We headed back inside to see Mr and Mrs Lee getting ready to leave—
"Well, Mr Kim I am taking my leave, Mrs Kim, thank you for the dinner." Mr Lee said once again hugging dad
"Mrs. Kim I'll see you soon for our girl's date with the others " Mrs Lee said this time, so that's where Mom used to go when she said girl's date.
"Uhh, Abigail, I'll text you." Mr Lee said waving at me as he exited the door with his parent as I nodded, then I noticed something—their little boy.
"Mr Lee!! You're brother." I said handing the little boy to him before he fully exited the house.
"Dada, guess what word me Iearn today?" The boy said, shocking everybody in the room.
"Oh, yeah what?" He said passing his hands on the hair of the boy that couldn't ait to tell him about the new word.
"Rwidiculous." He said in a cute accent, he's just like Makayla, they don't know how to talk but try their hardest to.
"Aww, that's awesome buddy, Dada's proud of you." Mr Lee said giving the boy a high five. "Goodnight, everybody, Phoenix, buddy, say bye."
"Bye-bye." The little boy, Phoenix said, sending kisses for everybody in the room. They soon left as I plopped myself on the couch, what an eventful first day of school, I'm getting married to my professor, one AND he has a child, what is life?
Minnie and I helped mom clean the kitchen and we went to our rooms, I took a bath and wore my pajamas to go to bed, not forgetting to pray. I even forgot I had school tomorrow, how am I gonna face him? Should I act sick and not go? No, that's a bad idea, I'll still have to see when I get 'better'. I groaned into my pillow before heading to sleep land.
