28. Land and Blood (XIV)

"Gentlemen,"

Looking down from above at the officers sitting up straight, Kaspar in his black Schutzstaffel uniform began to speak:

"I like war."

His tone was cold, devoid of any excitement or joy, as if he were discussing something irrelevant to himself, or making a humorless joke. However, his demeanor was very serious, with not a trace of levity, and none of the officers seated below thought to laugh.

Originally, the Schutzstaffel had a special identity, with a strong sense of being a private army. As the envoy of the Emperor overseeing and directing this operation, Kaspar could entirely be seen as the representative of the Emperor. Even if they were displeased with this dignitary, even if he spouted complete nonsense, they had to accept it, as if bowing to the shadow of the Emperor.

Fortunately, Kaspar was not without substance, and as someone who favored action, he quickly got to the point.
