There was once a prolonged war.

History is essentially a chronicle of wars, with countless battles having occurred in the past, from obscure skirmishes to grand battles immortalized in history. All these countless fights linked together constitute what is known as the "prolonged war".

For the citizens of the Empire, especially those from the Old Charlemagne Kingdom who became fourth-class citizens of the Empire, termed "newly annexed citizens", the "prolonged war" represents an unbearable past, symbolizing turmoil, restlessness, fanaticism, poverty, humiliation, death raining down at any moment, and an apparently endless hunger. Having experienced one defeat after another, sinking into deeper despair, people had already lost their enthusiasm for political movements. Now, everyone just wants to live a good life and be a law-abiding citizen of the Empire.
