Chapter 22: Deterrence

The skeletons were swarming over him, pressing the mercenary corps leader down under their hard ribs. Just by watching, one could sense the incredible force pressing down on him, and his struggle to breathe.

He had only swung his weapon twice before losing the strength to fight back. This was completely unexpected. After all, these were just skeleton monsters!

The mercenary corps leader was shocked. To him, these were just skeleton monsters, but he remembered that the level of the summoned skeleton monsters depended on the strength of the summoning mage!

In the past, the highest level mage he had encountered was only a third-tier one, like the little girl writhing on the ground at this moment.

A third-tier mage and a sixth-tier mage will summon completely different varieties of undead skeletons.

In the former case, he could easily smash those monsters with the great sword in his hand, while the latter...was exactly what he was experiencing now.
