Chapter 161: Departure and Reception

After the witch dashed out of the tavern, before her lay a deserted street, usually empty and desolate at this late hour.

Had there been anyone wandering the streets, it would have been impossible to miss, given the striking brightness of the moon.

The silver moonlight shimmered on the blue-grey slabs, casting a subtle glow.

All was quiet and perfectly serene, the clamor of the tavern shut behind its door. When the door is pushed open, the tranquility of the world is restored.

But this left the witch with a sense of disillusionment, as if all that she had previously experienced was nothing but an illusion.

Perhaps that so-called bard never truly existed, it could have been she had too much to drink.

But that was impossible. Unless illusion magic was in play, nothing could bypass her intuition, even though her mastery of magical power wasn't as refined as a mage's.

But when it came to detecting magic, she had an extraordinary talent.
