Since this fellow had become like prey of his own, already devoid of any capability to resist or struggle against the problem, why then must one impose further acts of cruelty upon him?
Upon introspection, the Alchemist knew that he derived no particular pleasure from abusing the small creature before him.
He simply wished to clearly understand what exactly he was doing when faced with the situation before his eyes, and that was all.
Any other sensation that might be more appropriate seemed rather meaningless in the face of these considerations or any understanding of the problem that people might feel should exist—all of that was insignificant.
So, when faced with the seemingly disdainful attitude that the other was displaying towards the situation at this moment,
he was very aware that he could well take the opportunity to teach the other a lesson.
To make the other understand that there should be at least what could be called a polite attitude towards what was happening.
