CHAPTER 16

Y/N'S POV

We had dinner at the Nevermore cafeteria and celebrated the victory for a while with the archery club, later each one went to his respective room. Enid and I had agreed to meet at the pentagon around eleven o'clock and then leave for the forest. I showered and put on my going-out clothes under my pajamas, I didn't want Yoko to discover me, although she was also already aware about my nights out.

-Yoko: - yawned - I'm dead, resisting sucking the normies blood has been hard - she said closing her eyes.

-Y/N: I can imagine - I said without giving importance while waiting for him to fall asleep.

-Yoko: Y/N - she called to me opening her eyes - If you're going to leave, do it now. It would be really bad if you kept Enid waiting.

-Y/N: How do you know that I'm going to meet with her? - I asked confused while I was taking off my pajamas.

-Yoko: We're best friends, she tells me everything - she stuck her tongue out at me - and she really wants to see you today, so don't wait any longer and get out.

I didn't say anything else and quickly left my room to go to the meeting point, she was waiting for me there while she played with her little hands. Was it normal for me to start thinking that that gesture made her look adorable? I shook my head trying to eliminate that thought and approached her causing a smile on the blonde.

-Enid: You have come - she smiled - I thought maybe you would have changed your mind, actually I am going to turn into a beast that is not very pleasant for the eyes.

-Y/N: I'm an Addams, I like that kind of creatures - I said starting to walk towards the exit - Shall we go?

We walked away from the academy to enter the forest, where a few months ago the fight against the hyde had taken place. I wondered if Enid felt comfortable knowing everything that had happened there, but I for one felt delighted to find myself on a battlefield. It was exciting as well as dark and sinister, especially because of the fog that always abounded in the place.

-Enid: This fog is horrible for the hair - she complained - I've fixed it for nothing.

-Y/N: You were going to transform in the anyway, so it doesn't matter a bit about the hair. Right?

- Enid: Yes, but it's still midnight... Until then I have to be with you in my human form, and well, I wanted to look good - she said a little shy.

-Y/N: Do you know that the concept of beauty is different for each individual? - I looked at my surroundings - What is cute for one person, could be horrible for another.

- Enid: Does that mean you think I'm horrible? - she made a face of anger and confusion at the same time.

-Y/N: I think you are horribly to my liking, I want to vomit when I see you but I can't look away when I have I'm in front of you - I blurted without thinking - Although with this fog it's difficult to see anything.

-Enid: - she blushed a little - I guess what you just said is synonymous to calling me "cute" - she smiled - But you're right, this fog sucks.

Hearing Enid's repeated complaints about the fog, I decided to remedy the matter and tried to resort to one of my kitsune abilities. My kind were supposed to be able to control fire magic, however the only thing I could create with my abilities was a small willowfire bonfire.

- Enid: Wow! Are you able to create fire out of nothing? - she said surprised - And it's blue in color!

-Y/N: It is a will-o'-the-wisp, this type of fire is typical of cemeteries, swampy grounds,... I think it's one of the few skills I've been able to assimilate - I smiled slightly - A kitsune is supposed to be able to light up the entire forest, but I can only create this for now."

- Enid: It doesn't matter, it's still beautiful. Besides - she came closer to me - It's an excuse to be closer because to see each other we have to be near the fire - she smiled coquettishly.

I couldn't find any flaws in Enid's logic and I let her stay close to me while we were walking. Our shoulders collided with every step we took and I got lost in the blonde's voice as she talked to me about gossip and pop bands. We were making time until it was time for her transformation, but then we heard a familiar voice approaching. The wolf and I looked at each other with panic in our eyes and we had no choice but to get into a small shed that we found.

It was an old shed that was probably abandoned a long time ago, so the wood that built it had holes and slits through which you could see the outside. It was then that we could see Wednesday talking to the so famous Tyler. It hadn't even been two minutes since we were locked up there when Enid started hyperventilating and making little noises, so I had to cover her mouth with my hand to avoid being discovered.

-Y/N: Shhh, Enid we can't let them discover us - I said trying to reassure her - Do you know what would happen if Wenny saw us here? She'd think we'd followed her and she'd kill us.

It seemed to me that Enid had already calmed down, so I slowly withdrew my hand from her face. It was a bad idea because at that very moment his fangs started to grow and his ears and tail came out to say hello. I was paralyzed for a moment because the moment couldn't be more inopportune.

- Y/N: Enid? - I asked worried - Is it happening? Are you going to wolf out?

-Enid: I can't control it - she mumbled - it's already the middle of the night.

I stayed silent as I watched Enid transform into a wolf. I peeked through the slits to see if Wenny had noticed the noises coming from our shed. Luckily for us, it seemed that the two were moving away, although suddenly the blonde was about to howl at the moon. I wanted to bang my head against one of the walls of the shed because that made Wenny and Tyler turn around and start walking towards us.

-Y/N: Shit, Enid - I shook my head - They're coming towards us and hiding you is going to be impossible with that size - the she-wolf just kept silent while looking at me with concern - I have a plan, but you're going to have to stay here and stay silent. Will you be able to do it?

Enid growled implying that she didn't want to be left alone, but we had no other choice, I had to act as a bait to divert the attention of the two of us to another place. I sneaked through the forest in my fox form because being smaller it was harder to see. When I was a considerable distance away from the shed, I returned to my human form and tried to summon my fire magic.

-Y/N: Come on, I just need a little call - I said frustrated as I saw how my attempts were in vain - Fuck! - I looked towards the shed and noticed how my cousin and the boy were less than twenty meters from where Enid was - I growled and pulled out my fangs to show as I tried to create fire again - The will-o'-the-wisp is no good! - I said between my teeth - it has to be... Real fire - I growled and tried until I got a flame the size of a thumb - This already works for me - I said bringing the flame closer to a small pile of leaf litter.

I watched as a small fire started to be created attracting the attention of my relative and the hyde, I waited until I saw both of them running in my direction and then I changed back into a fox to return to Enid. With a lot of work I managed to get it to pass through the shed door and then we sped away from the place at full speed. We stopped when we met near the entrance of the academy, then I returned to my human form.

-Y/N: That was close - I breathed a sigh of relief just before being pushed by the wolf's muzzle - Are you feeling okay?

-Enid: - she returned to her human form slowly - I thought it was our end - she tried to hug me but I pulled away - Sorry, sometimes I forget - she smiled - Have you set fire to the forest?

-Y/N: It was the only method I could think of to distract them - I shrugged - If the hyde suddenly transformed and came towards me, I would have had no chance.

-Enid: Yeah, but you're a kitsune - she said looking me straight in the eyes - Your nature is to protect the forests, though... You set a fire to protect me.

-Y/N: It was an exception - I turned my gaze elsewhere - And I trust they stopped it - I looked at her again - On the other hand, I'm sorry that the night was not what you had expected.

-Enid: It doesn't matter, all I wanted was to get stuck next to you to show you that other side of myself - she smiled - Do I look fierce? Intimidating? Or do I still look adorable?

-Y/N: Okay... It's the first time I've seen a wolf with colored hair - I smiled - But your huge and sharp fangs have left me mesmerized - I unconsciously looked at his lips - That most intimidating air suits you very well, and listening to you growl so close to me has been quite an experience.

-Enid: O-Oh - she got nervous - I'm sorry about what happened, there wasn't much space in our hiding place. For a moment I was afraid of crushing you - she brought her hands behind her back while looking at her shoes.

-Y/N: I would have enjoyed that - I smiled - maybe during the next full moon.

- Enid: Will you come back to the forest with me? - she smiled and intertwined her little finger with mine again.

-Y/N: - I nodded - I will try to form more of a wisp to get rid of the fog and not spoil your hair.

-Enid: You don't have to try so hard for me - she let out a giggle - But I really appreciate your words, you are much warmer than I thought - she separated our pinkies to intertwine our hands completely - Is it okay if I want to be closer, Y/N?
