Y/N'S POV
I turned quickly when I heard Wednesday's warning and then I came across a huge creature with bulging eyes and sharp claws. Honestly, after researching so much and reading about them, I didn't need a demonstration of what these beings were capable of, so I just ran to get to safety. It will sound selfish, but I couldn't help the rest if I didn't save myself.
The hyde ran after me through the forest while I tried to corner him, it was impossible, he was moving too fast. I went back to the clearing and tried to get closer to untie the rest, I was hoping that they could still walk so that I could escape while I entertained the monster.
- Wednesday: Are you an idiot? !! - she screamed at me as I tried to untie her - Go away! That thing, it can kill you in the blink of an eye.
-Y/N: I'm not planning to leave and leave you here - I looked at her seriously - If he comes back, I'll run back and throw him off again in the forest.
-Wednesday: NO, listen to me - she said in a demandful tone - Y/N, you have to leave and get to safety. Please... We can't both be in danger, at least one has to be able to save herself.
-Y/N: Are you serious? - I growled at her - We'll all leave here together. Okay?
I had never seen an expression of despair on my cousin, but there Wenny was, watching as the hyde ran in our direction. I turned my back on my cousin and my friends to face the hyde head-on, I was aware that in a physical fight I had those to lose, but I had to protect others no matter what. I got in front of him and transformed into my fox form, I felt ridiculously small but in turn that meant I was much more elusive.
If I had learned anything from my grandparents in Japan, it was that one of the foxes' best abilities was jumping. So I didn't think twice and jumped on the creature's back and proceeded to bite him. I engaged my jaw with all my strength, but I barely managed to damage it, rather the opposite... With one of his claws he was able to take my whole body and sent me flying against some trees. The impact took my breath away for a few moments, but I still got up and ran back to position myself in front of the posts where the rest were.
- Wednesday: Get out! - she repeated to me again - Y/N, please - her voice sounded like a plea.
I swallowed thickly and tried to stay steady on my four paws, no matter how scared I felt and no matter how crazy it sounded, nothing and no one was going to move me from that place. Supposedly I was born to protect the forests and the sacred places. How was I going to fulfill that task if I wasn't even able to protect the people I cared about? I growled at the hyde even though I knew that wasn't going to intimidate him in the least.
In fact he seemed to take it as a signal to attack me again, and boy did he, he tore my ribs when I tried to dodge his paw. It hurt, boy it did, and it wasn't a pleasant pain like the ones I was used to feeling during the tortures with Wenny. It was a sharp pain, after all I had a paw all over my rib. That would hurt anyone, wouldn't it? It was hard for me to breathe a little and my legs were shaking, but it was clear to me that I was not going to give up.
The hyde was running in my direction again and I closed my eyes tightly expecting to receive the coup de grace, however it was not like that. A voice in the distance made him stop and return to his human form, I deduced that the person who had stopped him was his owner, however I could not see who it was because I lost consciousness.
ENID'S POV
I ran with all my might to the local police building, a place too crowded by the excluded during the last months. I tried to catch my breath while I was telling them about the disappearance of Wedns and the rest, to my surprise they didn't seem to pay much attention. I insisted for quite a while that it wasn't like them to disappear without saying anything, but they insisted that it was probably about teenage dramas.
-Enid: It's for reasons like this that you didn't get to hunt the hyde in time - I banged the table angrily - Sheriff! You know your son's on the loose, right? Do your job and put him where he deserves, in a cell - I growled at him.
- Sheriff: I'm not going to allow a little girl to come and tell me how to do my job - he crossed his arms - I think you had enough fun playing Sherlock Holmes last term, stop it now and concentrate on studying, which is your duty.
-Enid: How are we going to do that if those who have to protect us ignore us? You know Wednesday Addams, I would never worry about her because I know what she is capable of. But she's not back yet, help me find her - I started crying from frustration - Please... Xavier, Yoko and Divine have not returned either.
- Sheriff: I'm really sorry, we have more important things to do - he pointed to another officer - Walk her out.
I left the police station feeling useless for not having been able to fulfill my part of the plan. I walked back to the fountain where I had arranged to meet with Y/N, I hoped that at least she had had more luck than me. I sighed as I thought about how useless those in the police force were and how important each passing hour was. What if I never saw my friends again? What the fuck had happened to them? I put my hands to my head and clenched my teeth in frustration making the fangs appear.
I checked the time on the mobile and tried to calm down until Y/N came back at noon as we had agreed. Surely she was already nervous enough, my role was to be able to bring her some peace and solutions to find them as soon as possible. However, noon came and no one appeared there. I stood up and in frustration scratched with my claws the bench where Addams and I had our first ice cream together. Where was she? Why hadn't she come back? Would she have forgotten the time? Or worse... Would she have suffered the same fate as the rest?
I started walking around the fountain as I felt the anger start to take control over my body. It didn't help much to control my feelings the fact that suddenly no one appeared in front of me but Tyler Galpin. I could feel how my body began to tense up as he tried to step back and avoid the conflict. I growled in mid-transformation when the boy started talking.
- Tyler: Listen to me... You have to do it to be able to rescue Wednesday.
- Enid: Hush! - I pushed him into the fountain - What are you doing here?! What have you done with my friends? !! - I raised my hand ready to give him a pat - Speak up or I will not hesitate to finish the job that your father has not had the courage to finish - I threatened him.
