Leaving the harrowing chilly darkness and the cold of the night, Oliver entered the cosy tent where his wife was waiting for him. Seeing the love of his life, Sigrid, smiling at him and reaching her slender arm to pull him under the warm blanket made him forget the serious situation they were in and soothed his nerves.
Even though Sigrid was smiling calmly, inside she was quite nervous as she gave Oliver some time to rest and gather his thoughts.
"I wonder how it went," Sigrid was musing to herself. "Knowing their relationship, it could have gone either way." Taking a quick peek at Oliver and noticing his unwavering eyes, Sigrid got a feeling that it probably went better than any of them could have expected.
This made Sigrid reflect on their past. Sigrid belonged to the current main family of the guild - the family of Grimspell. This family's forte was pure attacking magic and curses, mostly of the darkness element. Even though Sigrid herself was one of the most powerful young dark mages of her family, she was by no means a dark or gloomy person herself. In opposite, she was the most cheerful and bright woman who would put smiles on other people's faces and infect them with her cheerful energy.
Grasping Oliver's hand more strongly, Sigrid remembered how she was able to become such a person. Indeed from a very young age, Sigrid had shown an immense talent for Dark magic and Curses. Having such an aptitude and belonging to the main family put Sigrid under immense pressure not only from the heads of the family but also from her parents. Training this powerful magic of darkness was unimaginably hard and painstaking for young Sigrid. At that time, Sigrid and her whole life were full of never-ending darkness without a single ray of light.
But one such ray of light did find her and became a sun which burned all of her dark gloominess away. That light of course was her now soulmate Oliver. They first met in the first year of the academy where they got put in the same class. Oliver being from the family of the nature element was completely different from Sigrid at the time.
Just like his wife, Oliver was also from one of the most important families in the Guild. This family was called Everbloom. Even though they were not the strongest family it could be undoubtedly said that they were the most respected family of the Guild. They are mostly healers and supporters, while some of them are also able to manipulate nature and use it in fighting.
Because of this, Oliver was brought up in a completely different environment compared to Sigrid. Oliver grew up surrounded by love and care from his family, especially his dear mother. But such care did not make him weak, spoiled or conceited in any way. In return, he wanted to give out all the love he received to others, help people and be friends with everybody (maybe except Jerome). He was indeed a very warm and kind-hearted person from a very young age.
Seeing a lonely, gloomy Sigrid with no emotions on her face made Oliver's heart squeeze in pain and made him want to do something for her. He knew a lot about the Grimspell family and how they usually were. But it did not stop him from trying to change Sigrid. From the very start, he probably did it because he felt an unexplainable attraction to her - it might have been love at first sight or something else.
