Chapter 3 - Clowned

The discovery of a hidden chamber caused excitement and nervousness for Ethan and Seth. The entrance was guarded by ancient stones with intricate carvings depicting mythical creatures and celestial alignments, hinting at a purpose far beyond decoration.

"This is it," exclaimed Professor Larkin, his eyes gleaming with anticipation. "The culmination of centuries of secrecy and protection. We stand on the threshold of unravelling a mystery that has eluded scholars for generations."

Ethan felt a surge of adrenaline mixed with apprehension. The air inside the chamber felt charged, as if the walls pulsed with a dormant power waiting to be awakened.

As they ventured deeper into the chamber, torchlight casting flickering shadows on the ancient runes etched into the walls, Seth began to speak.

"I've been thinking about those dreams we've been having. The ones with snippets of memories we can't quite grasp," said Seth thoughtfully.

Ethan nodded, his mind racing with fragments of forgotten scenes—a masked figure whispering cryptic warnings, a hidden map etched in starlight, and a sense of urgency that bordered on desperation.

"It's like our minds are trying to piece together a puzzle," mused Ethan, his fingers tracing the intricate patterns on the wall. "But every time we get close to an answer, it slips away like sand through our fingers."

Suddenly, a faint echo of laughter reverberated through the chamber. Ethan and Seth exchanged puzzled glances, their senses on high alert.

"Did you hear that?" Seth whispered, his eyes scanning the dimly lit surroundings.

Before Ethan could respond, a clown emerged from the shadows—a figure adorned in colourful attire that clashed with the ancient setting. The clown's painted smile seemed out of place, a stark contrast to the solemnity of the chamber.

"Welcome, travellers," the clown said, his voice a melodic blend of amusement and mystery. "I've been expecting you."

Ethan's heart raced, a mix of curiosity and wariness gripping his chest. "Who are you? What do you want?"

The clown's smile widened, a hint of mischief dancing in his eyes. "I am but a messenger, a harbinger of truths long forgotten. The answers you seek lie beyond the veil of memory, in realms where time and space intertwine."

Seth stepped forward, his gaze unwavering. "Enough riddles. Tell us what you know."

The clown chuckled, a sound that echoed eerily in the chamber. "The path you tread is fraught with peril and revelation. Beware the shadows that whisper lies and the masks that hide true intentions."

Before Ethan could press further, the clown vanished into thin air, leaving a lingering sense of unease.

"We're not alone in this," Ethan murmured, his eyes narrowing in determination. "There are forces beyond our understanding, and we must unravel this mystery before it consumes us."

Ethan, Seth, and Professor Larkin delved deeper into the chamber with renewed purpose. Their quest for answers led them down corridors of ancient knowledge and forgotten wisdom. Little did they know, their journey was far from over, and the darkest secrets of the Feral Origins awaited them in the shadows of the past.
