I'm Sorry

Ethan's hangover was like a relentless thunderstorm inside his head. His temples throbbed with each heartbeat, and he grimaced at the sharp, stabbing pain. A dry and bitter taste clung to his mouth, and his stomach roiled with discomfort. It felt like someone had used his brain as a punching bag, and every thought seemed to echo with a dull ache.

He cursed quietly under his breath as the memories of the previous night flooded back. The realization of his actions hit him hard, like a sledgehammer to the chest.

"Shit," he thought, regret lacing his mind. "What have I done? It's too soon. I hope Olivia can forgive me."

Ethan knew he had lost control when he saw Olivia with Daniel. The jealousy and protectiveness had overtaken him, and he had acted recklessly. He needed to pull back to give Olivia the space she deserved. His feelings for her were intense, and he couldn't let that intensity push her away. Memories from his past clouded his judgment. Olivia was not her. He had to trust Olivia, or he would destroy everything.

Quietly, he left Olivia's apartment and went to the elevator. Olivia remained unaware that he was a neighbor, a piece of information he had yet to reveal. He had been eager to have her over, to show her a part of his world, but now he realized the importance of taking things slowly. His determination to win Olivia over was unwavering, but he had to be patient and cautious to ensure they had a future together.

Ethan's penthouse apartment was the epitome of luxury. The moment he stepped inside, the grandeur of the space enveloped him. Polished marble floors gleamed under the soft illumination of crystal chandeliers, casting a warm, inviting glow. The open-concept living area was spacious, with floor-to-ceiling windows that offered panoramic views of the city skyline. Plush, designer furniture in neutral tones filled the living room, and exquisite art adorned the walls.

The kitchen was a chef's dream, with top-of-the-line appliances and a gleaming granite island that invited culinary creativity. The master bedroom was a sanctuary of luxury, with a king-sized bed dressed in fine linens and a master ensuite featuring a spa-worthy bathtub and a separate glass-enclosed shower. His apartment was a testament to his success, a place where elegance and comfort merged seamlessly.

Despite his inebriation from the previous night, images of his time with Olivia replayed in his mind as the warm water cascaded over him in the shower. He knew he had acted rashly and impulsively, and he needed to atone for his behavior. He hoped that Olivia wouldn't be too hard on him and that he could mend the damage he had unintentionally caused.

Thinking through their passion together, Ethan knew it would be explosive when Olivia finally gave in to him. But he just got out of the shower, so he didn't need to let his thoughts go there again.

A thought struck Ethan, a first step towards making amends. He chuckled at himself as he considered, "Ethan, my boy, you are completely done for."

Olivia

Olivia gradually stirred from her sleep, greeted by an unusually quiet atmosphere in her apartment. With her heart pounding slightly, she couldn't help but wonder what the morning held after the tumultuous night. She cautiously peeked into the living room, half-expecting to see Ethan sprawled on the sofa or nursing a hangover. To her relief, the room was vacant.

Letting out a silent sigh, Olivia understood that he had left. It was a mixed blessing; on the one hand, she was relieved not to have to face Ethan, but on the other, she couldn't shake off the disquieting memories of his inebriated actions.

As she prepared herself for the day, she pondered why he had indulged in alcohol. It was a behavior that didn't quite align with the composed, put-together image she had of him. Drinking binges didn't seem like his style, which only added to the weight of confusion that hung over her as she contemplated the awkwardness that awaited her at work. It was an undeniable challenge—Ethan, her boss, and stepbrother had attempted to seduce her in a drunken stupor, leaving her with the daunting task of reconciling their professional relationship amidst the chaotic emotions of the night before.

Entering the kitchen with her thoughts swirling like a whirlwind, Olivia was met with a captivating surprise. On her otherwise mundane countertop lay a bouquet of fresh flowers, their vivid colors and fragrant petals instantly drawing her attention. A small, simple note accompanied the vibrant arrangement, reading "I'm sorry" with a heart drawn beside the words. It bore Ethan's signature, and she couldn't help but let out a soft sigh as she took in the gesture.

Ethan remained a perplexing mystery, a man of contrasts who seemed to shift effortlessly between the realms of hot and cold, warm and reserved. His actions continued to bewilder and intrigue Olivia, keeping her on her toes. She couldn't deny the undeniable attraction that had taken root, a magnetic pull that seemed to transcend reason. But, as she gazed at the bouquet, she couldn't escape the unsettling notion that her emotional restraint was fraying, the tension between them growing more fragile with each passing moment.

As Olivia stood under the warm water of her shower, she let it wash away the remnants of her uneasy night. The cascading water droplets acted as a soothing balm for her conflicted heart. She knew that today at work would be a test of her emotional fortitude, especially when facing Ethan, her boss, and the man who had intoxicated her thoughts and feelings.
