Picking up the pieces.

"Go to sleep, don't think about it anymore" he said in a low tone, before he placed a kiss on her forehead. He was walking out when something on her bedside table caught his attention.

It was a gold wrist watch. The gold wristwatch.

"Where did you get this?" Dylan asked, picking up the wristwatch and fumbling it in his palm.

"That's Archer's I was to give it back to him after lunch, but it escaped my mind" Emily explained.

"You bought it for him?" Dylan asked, raising a brow.

"No, it fell off his pockets earlier today. I saw it and decided I'll give it back, but I forgot to" She added non-chalantly

Dylan nodded in affirmation.

"I think I'll hold on to this for now" he said before he turned to leave.

"Okay, goodnight" she replied as she pulled the blankets over her shoulders and shut her eyes.

Dylan walked out of the room maintaining his perplexed look. He rested his back against the shut door from the outside. He strolled to his room. He walked directly to the bedside table where his phone lay and picked it up. He dialled a number, and it rang for a while, but no one answered. He sighed before placing both the phone and the wristwatch back on the table before letting himself fall freely on the bed.

"I'm here...!" Archer announced as he adjusted the palm fronds on his shoulder. He stepped into the hut hoping to find his sister, but he didn't.

"Shay...?" he called out, but there was no response.

"Shania!" he called out even louder, but there was no response.

He carelessly placed the fronds on the ground and stepped out. He surrounded the hut twice in a row hoping to see her, but it was futile.

He walked back into the hut, called out her name again, and was once again answered by silence. It was then he noticed a small, white towel lying at the entrance. He picked it up and realized it was soaked.

With restless heart, he put the towel in his pocket and headed home, trying to shake off the feeling that something bad had happened to his sister.

Dawn had come, and the sun penetrated through the windows of Emily's room, making the room bright enough. She blinked, eyes still close, turning her back to the sun ray. She stretched lazily on the king-sized bed.

"Knock, knock, knock" Was the sound on the door. She didn't respond, so the door creaked open, and Cyrus stepped in.

Emily stretched again, not ready to wake up, but involuntarily opened her eyes, and there her brother was, leaning by the door, and staring at her. She smiled at the sight of him.

"Hi princess" he said.

"Good morning brother" she responded as she sat up on the bed.

"Hope you had a good night's rest?" he said and she nodded.

"I'm going out now, I'll be back late, so take care of yourself, and if anyone tries to bully you, do not hesitate to report to me, and I'll handle them mercilessly.'' He teased.

"Hm... you mean the way you handled Archer mercilessly last night?" she mocked, and he rolled his eyes before he exited the room. Emily chuckled, staring into space.
