These stories were for publication early morning the next day, which was why she had to go over them right away now. However, it has been taking her longer than usual to read the files, which was very obvious because she kept going back and forth with her reading on the same article. Originally, her purpose was trying to keep herself occupied with this task to distract her from her thoughts on Vincent's trip to Miami.
