Tortured

April woke with a jolt, as if she was electrocuted. She also felt the panging pain on her temple, like it was being pounded by a hammer. She reached out to touch her forehead, but the throbbing pain remained constant.

April could not believe her eyes, as she sat up and realized where she was. She gasped in horror, at the resurfacing of her long-forgotten nightmare. She had thought it would never come back to her, and haunt her again, but this misfortune, it seemed, she could not escape. She would not be mistaken about this place. This was where she had suffered so much, at her young age. She had run away from it all, hoping that she would truly forget, and imagined, that it was only some nightmare she had, when she slept.

April scanned the cell without blinking, still, a certain kind of paralysis had overcome her, just like in nightmares.

This could not be real!

She protested in her mind.
