Girlfriend?!

The reply from Siri never came, and I assumed she was caught up in another whirlwind of activities since she wasn't online either. Deciding to continue my gaming session, I aimed to impart a few more lessons to my younger brothers, budding gamers eager for a challenge.

"Next on board," I called out, signaling my readiness to resume. The competitive energy between the twins surged as they both buckled up, realizing the winner of this round would earn the coveted opportunity to face me next.

As I took hold of the controller after Tim's defeat, my sister hurriedly breezed past us in the living room, heading towards the front door. The distinct sound of her flip flops echoed through the room. Just then, my phone buzzed with a message from Precious. Engrossed in the intense battle, I only glanced at the notification, swiftly redirecting my full attention back to the game. With the amount of damage I delivered to Theo's character per second, the match would be over in no time.

A few moments later, The front door opening resonated through the living room, accompanied by Favour's sharp voice. "Daniel, your girlfriend is outside, and she says I should call you. I ushered her in, but she insisted I go get you instead." Favour's tone carried a tinge of disappointment.

"Girlfriend?" I asked, surprised, whipping my head to her direction. "I don't have a girlfriend, Who the f..." I stopped abruptly, reaching for my phone. Precious' message displayed, "Hey, I'm outside your gate."

"Precious," I muttered softly between gritted teeth. The time was 1:46 PM, and I was so engrossed in gaming that I forgot to be time-conscious. Though I did express the desire to get there before the party started, I didn't think she would be such an early bird.

Favour must have spotted her car outside the gate from her room window upstairs and rushed out to investigate. Favour, always the active detective.

"Yes, Precious. So you do know her," Favour's ears caught my words. Her doubting facial expression transformed into a smile of relief. "She was the one who dropped you off when you came yesterday, right?" Favour's eyes sparkled with excitement.

"Go get her to come in," she urged, grabbing my arm and tugging me out of my sitting position effortlessly.

"What the hell, how are you so strong?" I objected, though I made little effort to resist. Heading toward the front door, Favour stopped pulling my arm and made her way to the passageway leading to my parents' room, presumably to share the news that my "girlfriend" had come to visit.

I attempted to stop her, but she was bubbling with happiness, and I decided to let her have her moment without shattering the illusion. Precious would just have to endure the heat.

Stepping out of the gate, I walked over to where Precious had parked her car. She was still in the driver's seat. I knocked lightly at her window, and she rolled down her front door glass.

"Hey, girlfriend," I said.

"What? Daniel, you told your sister we were dating? Precious fired back.

Ehh? I didn't. Wait, I thought you did?" I replied.

"No! Wait, you didn't tell your sister anything?" Precious asked clearly surprised, she continued, "she came out, saying, 'You must be Daniel's girlfriend, right?' I didn't know the conversation you had with her, and not wanting to blow your cover, I playfully agreed," precious explained.

"Well, Now you'd have to come in. You got my younger sister all hyped up," I said with a teasing grin. "It would only take a few minutes at most for me to change out of this outfit, so you won't have to stay for long before we leave. Going back in and leaving you here would just be rude, and Favour wouldn't be happy about that."

Precious still sitting in the front seat of her car, she voiced her hesitation,

"Daniel we really only just met two days ago, and now you want to introducing me to your family, isn't that a little awkward?" she argued.

I leaned against the car door, attempting to ease her concerns. "Well, they don't have to know that, now do they?" I said with a convincing tone" and it not my whole family, just for my sister.

After a moment, Precious chuckled, her eyes glinting with amusement. "Guess I've unwittingly become the star of the show. Lead the way."

She stepped out of the car, locking the door behind her. Precious exuded modern elegance in a slim-fitting denim dress, seamlessly blending comfort and style. The dress, in a flattering indigo hue, embraced her silhouette with a tailored fit. The ensemble featured a daring thigh-high slit, adding a touch of allure to the overall look.

The denim dress boasted a chic, off-the-shoulder neckline, highlighting her shoulders and collarbone. The simplicity of the design allowed the thigh-high slit to take center stage, offering a contemporary twist to the classic denim aesthetic.

"She paired the dress with ankle-strap heels, elongating her legs and adding a hint of sophistication. The shoes' neutral tone complemented the indigo denim, creating a cohesive and stylish ensemble.

For accessories, Precious opted for subtle yet impactful details. A silver pendant necklace adorned her neckline, adding a touch of sparkle. Her wrist featured a stack of delicate gold boho tassel bracelets, providing a hint of bohemian flair to the overall look.

In hand, she carried a compact crossbody bag in a complementary denim shade. The bag was sleek and functional, perfect for carrying essentials without compromising on style. The denim dress, with its contemporary design and thoughtful accessories, showcased her fashion-forward sensibility.

As we walked towards the front door, I couldn't help but ask, "So, what did you tell Favour exactly?"

Her laughter bubbled up. "Your sister is quite the character. She came out to the gate, saw me waiting in the car. After inquiring about my name and reason for parking here, she straight up asked if I was your girlfriend. She even said and I quote, 'You also dropped him off yesterday morning, didn't you?' to which I confirmed. I actually thought you had already told her we were a couple or something as a cover. It just felt like a playful sisterly thing. She even invited me in, so I jokingly told her to go tell you that your 'girlfriend' is outside instead. I had no idea she would take it seriously.

I shook my head in mock disbelief. "Well, Favour has a vivid imagination. She probably assumed she uncovered some grand secret. Now, she's convinced we're a couple."

Precious grinned lightly, clearly amused by the scenario unfolding. "Looks like we'll be playing along with that narrative?" She said throwing me a glance.

"Absolutely not," I replied, opening the front door for her. No way would I make her go through the pressure of posing as my girlfriend just because of Favour's wild assumption. "But you'll just have to endure a harmless bit of sibling banter. Let's not burst her bubble too soon."

Precious and I walked into the living room, where Favour greeted us with cheerful enthusiasm. However, her expression quickly shifted as she directed an inquisitive gaze at me.

"Daniel, you owe me an explanation for leaving me out of the loop. Why didn't you tell me you had a girlfriend?" Favour asked, her disappointment evident.

I shot Precious a playful look. "Seems like we've become the talk of the town, or at least, the talk of this house."

Precious and I exchanged amused glances, and I couldn't resist joining in the banter. "Thanks, Favour. You really know how to make an announcement," I said, appreciating her support.

"But how can you welcome our guest with questions? Let her get comfortable first jeez," I teased, redirecting the conversation.

Precious chuckled and replied, "It's okay, Daniel. I can see the curiosity runs in the family."

Favour winked playfully. "I have a knack for these things. Now, don't let me keep you. Go enjoy your time together. I'll be the supportive sister, silently judging you." She said it with such a mix of excitement and jest that I couldn't help but chuckle.

"Your sister is a riot," precious replied.

Favour was still eager for answers, but I skillfully steered the discussion towards more lighthearted topics, letting Precious settle in without feeling bombarded. The banter continued, and soon enough, Favour embracing her role as the supportive sister was caught up in the cheerful atmosphere, she temporarily set aside her investigative inquiries.

I shared a glance with Precious, In that moment, our unspoken connection, filled with shared laughter and understanding, made her presence feel special in a way that transcended traditional labels.
