Spider's Web III*

"Then I would rather die―"

"Would you?" Damon asked, cutting me off mid-sentence. "Bonded mates will not live for long if the other is dead, especially if they are a fated pair. If you die, what will happen to Blaise?"

I gritted my teeth in annoyance. It wasn't a lie, that I knew. The only reason why my father lived so long was because he was an exception― he already had another mate waiting for him, ready to replace his original partner. If it were any other ordinary pair of werewolves, if one mate died, another would quickly follow out of a broken heart.

"If he feels this, isn't that the same as torture?" I softly asked. Tears began to form in my eyes, welling before it quickly overflowed and trailed down the apples of my cheeks. "He can feel everything I feel. If I… If we… Won't that mean that he'll feel it?"
