Magical Alphabets

Speaking of the science called magical alphabets,

Magical alphabets were one of the ancient sciences. In each kingdom, there were only a few people who could read magical alphabets.

Their number could be counted by fingers; it could be said that each kingdom had less than five magical-alphabet users. So, these people were highly glorified.

Why did they praise these people?

Because they were creators. Alphabet users created magical tools for this world. Even the magical rings were their creations.

Normal people would probably make magical weapons or magical armors by containing cryptic souls inside them. But they could never carve magical alphabets onto those instruments.

The carving process required magical powers to contain a certain spell into the tool.

It worked even with a clothes hanger. If magical alphabets were carved on it, that hanger would probably be used to release a magical-fireball spell.

When an alphabet user drew magical alphabets onto anything, they would perhaps be utilized as magical tools assisting those certain spells.

Only alphabet users could turn items into magical tools.

The magical alphabets’ skills were divided into several paths: item-carving, synthesizing magic from items to make an attack spell, building a mechanism, making a bond, or even building a barrier to protect the whole city.

It all depended on which ways those alphabet users were adept at. That was why the alphabet users were so important to all kingdoms. Even a high lord would bow down if he met an alphabet user.

Getting deep into the magical alphabet science, the alphabet users were segregated according to the power of their magical alphabets. Their levels could be noticed from the colors of their magical alphabets or even the details on the cloaks.

Most alphabet users were at the blue level; the higher was green.

In the present time, there were only two users at the green level from five great kingdoms.

The powers of the green-level alphabet users were extremely powerful and robust. The barriers protecting cities were those of blue-level users. But for the capital cities of each kingdom, they used the powers of the green-level alphabet users.

Each capital city was considered the heart of the kingdom. Surely enough, they had to protect their capitals the best they could. So, they had to use the green-level alphabet users’ strongest and most powerful powers.

Although the green-level alphabet users were seen as the greatest, the blue-level alphabet users were no less honorable. Even if they were only blue-alphabet users, people were ready to bow down to please them.

Be it ordinary people. Even aristocrats or king-bloods respected them.

Jumping back to two years ago

When Merlin was going through the bizarre situation and received “Lemegeton,” he unsealed the first magical book Ars Paulina the moment he held Lemegeton. Ars Paulina being the encyclopedia of wisdom, that meant he received all the common knowledge of this land. And the magical alphabets were one of them.

Receiving the knowledge from Lemegeton, Merlin automatically became an alphabet user.

If an ordinary person wanted to become an alphabet user, he or she had to be a born-gifted person who could connect with the alphabets directly and a top-notch genius.

Also, each alphabet had significant elements involving each magical hoop’s meaning; each line of the magical hoops had a meaning. And the more complex that magical hoop was, the more powerful it would be.

So, each alphabet worked similarly to a shortcut spell that downsized each magical hoop into an alphabet.

Alphabet users, therefore, had to completely understand both the magical hoops and the alphabets. Also, they had to know each hoop’s meaning and origin.

In order to use the alphabets, the user had to exercise magic to draw each alphabet while thinking of the hoop’s image and meaning at the same time.

That was why becoming an alphabet user was extremely hard. And mostly, in this realm, the users could use only basic magical alphabets. There were only a few people who had reached the green level and used more elevated alphabets.

It was obvious that the blue-level alphabet users who made and sold magical rings only applied the magical-dimension carvings that merely contained the elemental dimensions. For that reason, those rings could only contain stuff in twenty-five square meters.

Meanwhile, if it was a green-level alphabet user who made the hoop, it would have the capacity to contain items in a hundred-square-meter space. And the people that possessed the rings made by green-level alphabet users were mostly the royal bloods or the ones with high statuses in each kingdom.

Even though Merlin was an alphabet user, he still had one limitation: he could not use magical power.

As Merlin had to complete his Qi foundation, he could not confuse it with practicing magical powers.

So, there was no magical power saved in his body. The magical power around him was absorbed and distilled into Xian vital essence.

Merlin spent months thinking and, finally, he found the solution to this problem by reading the books in the Waldecian library. He found a way.

It was utilizing the magical power around him by absorbing and immediately releasing it. This way required a tool as a medium.

However, he could use this method only to draw alphabets. He could not use it to cast a normal spell. Because to do so, a person had to force the magical power out from inside the body, but he was not capable at the time.

In the same way, this limitation prevented him from using the intricate-magical-hoops alphabets.

……………….

Back to present

After setting up a barrier to prevent the beasts from interrupting his level-seven-bottleneck-drilling, when the sun was down on his head, Merlin started inducting the magical power using a wand that looked like a handy small stick. The special thing about this wand was that it had a magic core working as an induction at its center.

Merlin’s wand was not very valuable; he bought it from a small shop in town.

His intention was to use it as a medium to transfer the magical power. So, he did not mind its quality.

Merlin flicked the wand, making a blue line. He then carefully drew blue alphabets in the air.

It did not take long before tons of alphabets were floating around. Those alphabets were weaving and swirling like waves.

Merlin worked on it slowly and calmly. He was not in a rush to induce the magical power around him and turned it into alphabets.

These alphabets were not complicated; even though they were simple, he took time to draw them meticulously.

Finally, the alphabet-drawing process was complete.

Those blue letters shined out, looking powerful. They were floating and rotating in the air like stars.

Merlin swished his wand and slowly drew each alphabet to the right places.

Shortly, those alphabets swirled around and then came together.

Until there appeared an intricate magical hoop.

This magical hoop was made from an interpretation in the Lemegeton encyclopedia.

He created the intricate hoop by adapting and putting small hoops together and reconstructing them until they became one complex hoop.

Merlin spent quite a while making this intricate one. In the future, if he had had enough magical power, probably, he would not have to waste his time drawing small magical hoops anymore.

Merlin looked at the massive hoop before him then smiled contentedly.

It shone above his head; its radius was around ten meters. And gathering magical power, distilling sunlight and moonlight to create an intense magical power in one spot were its benefits.

It worked like a magnifying glass, bringing light to one place. He created it by adapting the mechanism of Sky Mirror, an occult instrument from the bureau he used to live in, in his former life.

When Merlin saw that his magical hoop was complete, he immediately went in and meditated to accumulate his Qi at its focus point.

And this was the hoop that helped him drill the bottleneck of level seven.
