Merlin's tiny head was buried in Maye's chest.
He did not try to break free; he just let everything go as the lady wanted.
Maye's tears covered her face. Her heart was filled with many feelings that were hard to describe.
"You have grown so much." She looked at Merlin and smiled with happy tears.
"I thought I would never see you again. Thank heaven. Thank you, all the gods, that you are still alive."
Maye was devastated to hear Merlin's news from Murrey, the chief butler of Szirtes Castle.
The news of her son's death deeply saddened her. Her heart was broken.
She lost hope for living. Despite being slandered, she did not care about it. It was as if she had abandoned her will to live.
Being driven out of the castle did not hurt her at all. But what she regretted most was the loss of her only son.
She was later helped by Arthur, son of Duke Cowe.
