Just vote

It was almost 5 pm and It was time to make a risky decision. Malik was getting prepared, constantly revising his speech. A few others and Bandar were clearing up the area for the people to stand.

A woman, a very familiar face, looked worried. She was Malik's wife who no one knew about. She was walking towards Bandar and he saw her. He too, walked towards her.

"What is it? He looks a bit.... nervous? He is never nervous and is always confident about everything." Said Malik's wife. "It's nothing. Maybe he forgot to learn his speech in time and that is why he is nervous I guess?" replied Bandar.

"Do you know anything about those people who came over uninvited today? They looked suspicious, as if they were trying to lure us in a trap." Said the woman.

Her name was weird. Bandar could not pronounce it. He was not permitted to give out any information regarding the meeting they had with those strangers.

Bandar replied, "We will discuss the important things at the meeting. Right now, I have to get back to work. I will make sure Malik stays calm so don't worry."

The woman walked away, looking worried. Meanwhile, Malik, was feeling a little indecisive. Thoughts ran through his head. He was over thinking.

Bandar was worried about him. He knew that Malik would back off any minute, right now, at maybe not this moment but in a while. He walked over towards Malik and told him to calm the palm trees down and to not go crazy.

[A few minutes later]

"O'ruler, it is time for the meeting. Everyone has assembled, you may come now." Said a servant.

Malik started his speech, "Hello everyone... As you know, there were a couple of strangers who were quite weird. I had discussed with them why they came and what for."

"They have offered us something that may or may not be good." Continued Malik. "They offered to become a joint tribe, that is, 2-3 tribes joined together to form one singular tribe."

"If we agree to this, it is possible we may lose our freedom. It may possibly be a trap."

Another man suddenly shoted from the crowd loudly, "What if we do not agree? What happens then?"

Malik replied to this sensible question, "Yes, thank you for asking Rio. If we do not agree to this, we may remain as it is."

There was a 15 minute intermission to discuss and vote. It was a tense moment.

[Malik walks away quickly towards Bandar to talk and get hyperventilated and increase his own blood pressure.]

"What if someo-" Bandar cut off Malik "Shut up, I do not want to hear it." Hearing this Malik's face said 'Okay fine, but do not come to me if you ever need me.'

[15 minutes later]

"Your intermission to vote is over. Please return to the crowd near me." Said Malik.

Everyone returned to their places, meanwhile some were still chattering like monkeys and blindly going to the first place they see open.

"The votes are in. Here, standing beside me, is Robert. He will announce the votes." Malik said while looking at Robert.

"Hello everyone, I am Robert. I am announcing the votes now."

Robert opened a paper that was folded in half. "89 per-cent of people have voted for...."

A very tense moment. Malik could hear his heart thrusting from his chest, as if it were to explode.

"A big fat no." Completed Robert. As soon as Malik heard that, he started jumping around in happiness. He could not control his joy.

Bandar immediately ran towards Malik and took him off the spotlight towards him so he could kick his butt for being embarrassing.

After the meeting Malik called for another meeting but at the Sacred Temple of Thali.
