An arrow pierced through the neck of a wolf. It howled, got up, and ran away, quite fast, seemingly unharmed in critical areas.
The other two were also startled and turned to flee.
Ma Lin grabbed a javelin and threw it with force. Unfortunately, it missed.
He clutched another javelin and gave chase.
He was in a state of strength from being well-fed.
He believed the injured wolf would slow down soon and could be finished off, while also scaring the other two wolves.
But all three ran like the wind.
The injured one, even with an arrow in its neck, moved unimpeded.
Ma Lin, barefoot, gave up after a few steps.
He returned to the camp with the javelin in hand.
Incredibly frustrated.
This life is truly tough and fraught with danger.
These were three wolves, relatively easy to deal with.
If there were a leopard lying in ambush somewhere, that would be much harder to guard against.
