Chapter 10: Experimental Accident

It took Oaks some time to convince Banner that their meeting was indeed a coincidence. Given the state of the surroundings, if the military was really nearby, would they still be waiting until now?

"Well, actually, I fled here... You seem to be familiar with what happened before, so I won't repeat it."

Banner carefully examined Oaks, a young scientist. He was only wearing a short shirt, which seemed inappropriate for conducting scientific research in the tropical rainforest. Even if he had the hoodie he was wearing, it was still too exaggerated!

"I've been evading the military's pursuit... Are you really here for botanical research? All by yourself?"

"You've asked that three times already."

Oaks rolled his eyes.

"You are someone who is revered in many universities, hanging on the walls alongside giants like Newton, Einstein, and Madame Curie. How could I dare to deceive you?"

"Is that so?"

Banner touched his nose and his mouth curved slightly, seemingly proud. But considering the current situation, he immediately calmed down.

"Well, it seems you're also a scientist with special abilities. How did you survive Hulk's attack?"

"Well..."

Oaks pondered for a moment and decided to tell the truth. After all, he had a good impression of Banner based on their conversation, and he should be more receptive to it.

"I'm a druid with some special abilities. You could say it was a scientific accident."

"Celtic?"

Banner raised an eyebrow, then quickly realized.

"Ah, a few months ago, I saw the news about a group claiming to be a Druidism group celebrating the summer solstice at Stonehenge."

"I have half Celtic blood, but what you mentioned is just a group of enthusiasts, not the same as the ones in Irish mythology."

Oaks scratched his red hair. He was aware of that news as well.

While Celtic mythology was indeed the origin of the druid concept, the tradition had long been lost. The current Druidic religion was really just a folk group formed by enthusiasts and had no connection to Celtic mythology.

But although his power inheritance didn't come from Celtic mythology, it served as a cover.

"Legitimate druids wouldn't celebrate the summer solstice at Stonehenge. As for my abilities, it's quite simple..."

He transformed into a bear, a cheetah, a bird...

Banner was almost scared into turning into Hulk.

"Boom, boom..."

Banner struggled to suppress his rapidly beating heart, and his neck vein was bulging.

"Wait... stop..."

"..."

Oaks returned to his human form, and the green light wrapped around his fingertips. Banner felt his thoughts immediately become calm, and his heartbeat returned to normal.

"And, soothing animals... Well, although it's a bit embarrassing, there are some similarities between Hulk and animals, right?"

Shivering, Oaks noticed that Banner's eyes were glowing with green light, like a hungry wolf.

"Dr. Banner?!"

"Oaks... You, you can restrain Hulk?!"

Banner was on the verge of turning into Hulk out of sheer happiness...

For heaven's sake, how much suffering had he endured and how much hardship had he gone through to find a way to control Hulk!

And this young scientist in front of him seemed to have achieved it so easily?

Druid?

Transform into a beast?

Even if he turns into a ghost, Bruce Banner must seize this opportunity!

Moreover, he just said it was a scientific accident?

Banner held onto Oaks's hand tightly, tears almost streaming down his face.

"You weren't pursued by the military, were you?"

"...No, I conducted the research independently."

"This accident is incredible... No, it's too coincidental!"

Banner was about to howl to the sky— he immediately believed it. Oaks, like him, was a result of accidental mutation through human experimentation!

No wonder he could move freely in the tropical rainforest. Have you ever seen an animal diving into the woods wearing protective gear?

"You infused animal genes into your body, all to recreate Celtic mythology?"

Banner shook Oaks's hands, appearing distressed.

"This is reckless! Too reckless! And you're so young... Sigh, when I was your age, I was just as blindly confident!"

"Um, I am fine, and it doesn't affect my daily life because I have complete control."

"...Well, but does the animal gene also come with energy manipulation? You haven't infused plant genes into your body, have you?"

Banner immediately switched to his scientist role, pondering.

"But what plants possess such powerful energy manipulation abilities? There are plenty of plants that can soothe emotions, and I also came to the Amazon to find such plants for experiments."

"Soothing animals? In other words, the principle is to make the target with low intelligence become mentally calm, right? Indeed, Hulk does somewhat fit that description."

"Exactly, and after fighting for a day and night, Hulk's instincts have been unleashed to some extent. He even actively wanted to be friends with me."

Oaks smiled, realizing that Banner's imagination saved him a lot of explanation, and in the future, he could use it as a standard template to explain to others.

If an experimental accident can produce a Hulk, why can't there be a Druid?

"Friends? Hulk?"

Banner's mouth gaped open. He never expected that Hulk could communicate.

All along, he regarded Hulk as a virus invading his body, vowing to remove him!

"But I don't have any memories... Whenever Hulk appeared in the past, It would leave behind some fragments of memories... Ah!"

Banner took a few steps and immediately sat down, holding his foot. He had stepped on something.

"It's always like this!"

Banner swung his arm fiercely and weakly covered his face.

"Whenever I lose control, Hulk comes out and wreaks havoc around me... And the pursuit by the military has deprived me of a peaceful sleep for years!"

"So, you came to the Amazon to find herbs for experimenting with emotional soothing and suppressing transformations?"

Oaks pondered for a moment.

"In that case, I might be able to help."

"Really?"

Banner suddenly looked up, only now remembering that the other person was a genius biologist.

"Of course, after all, Hulk can also be considered a friend I just made. Finding a solution is beneficial for both of you."

"I also searched for methods in some books. I'm looking for herbs that have a calming effect and blood purification properties."

Banner held his foot and quickly switched to professional mode.

"Although Hulk's appearance is triggered by my emotions, it ultimately stems from problems with my blood. If we can suppress the blood mutation, we can cure it completely!"

"Well... Of course, you understand Hulk best. Since you've chosen a treatment method, let's proceed along this path for the experiment."

Oaks nodded and glanced around.

"But before that, let's return to human society and discuss this matter in detail. Don't worry, with me around, you won't easily transform into Hulk."

"But before that, we need to repair the damage we caused."

Banner also looked at the devastated surroundings and opened his mouth.

"Should we plant trees?"
