Chapter 72: Who Knew Ropes Could Be Used Like This?

As Tony made a quick decision and ascended to avoid being targeted, Ivan took direct control of Rhodes' armor and the "Air Force" model drones to chase after Tony into the air.

Of course, the glass ceiling of the exhibition hall couldn't hold up.

"That's why I said, how could all those falling glass pieces in movies not hit anyone?"

A sudden gust of wind blew away all the glass shards, pouring them onto the other three types of drones that were ready to continue pursuing Tony on foot.

"Melinda! Capture Hammer!"

As soon as Oaks shouted, Melinda rushed out.

"Sharon!"

"Yes!"

The two sisters didn't even make eye contact, they immediately took action. Melinda went to apprehend Hammer while Sharon called for backup.

As for the others...

Just kidding, if Oaks and Banner couldn't handle the situation, what use were they here?

The most important thing now was to find that hacker!

Melinda caught up to Hammer, who had just escaped to the backstage area, and beat him up until he revealed Ivan's hiding place—his company.

"Very good, this way you'll suffer a little less..."

Melinda handed the still groaning Justin Hammer over to Sharon, who had come along. She gave a signal, and Sharon nodded in understanding.

Hammer, who was in pain and struggling to catch his breath, saw Melinda turning to leave and cluelessly shouted:

"Wait! Who are you? I'm going to send you a lawyer's letter..."

"Bang!"

Sharon knocked him out with an elbow strike and raised an eyebrow.

"Don't worry, your lawyer won't find you for the time being... Before going to the military prison, why don't you come to our S.H.I.E.L.D. facility?"

How could they miss the chance to embarrass the US military and gain leverage?

Melinda rushed out of the exhibition hall alone and saw a bunch of peculiar... vine-like plants outside, tightly entangling the large group of robots that had previously charged out of the hall.

Not only that, the robots were struggling silently, even when their weapons were fired, they persistently aimed at the sky, miraculously avoiding any harm to the crowd.

Melinda raised an eyebrow and looked around. Regardless of the paint on the robots, they were now all covered in a greenish color.

Their armor and weapons were completely entwined with green vines.

"This destructive weapon is really effective."

It wasn't the first time Melinda had seen Oaks do something like this, although this time the scale was larger.

Oaks was crouching down and talking to a child wearing an Iron Man mask. He even patted the kid's big-headed mask.

And nearby, a robot soldier was being strangled by particularly thick vines, emitting sparks and explosions.

"No wonder, it seems like he is getting angry."

Melinda jumped into a decent-looking car, took out a small device, and ignited some floor oil with a few strikes. The car rushed out.

"But my battlefield is not here!"

Since the commotion caused by Dr. Banner's transformation would be too loud, Oaks immediately provided him with reassurance when the incident occurred. He instructed Matt to protect Banner, Antonio and Yinsen, and take them, along with Pepper and Happy, to rendezvous with Blaze.

That's when Oaks saw the child wearing an Iron Man mask...

This little guy faced a robot that had scanned his mask and was preparing to attack him. He raised his right hand wearing an Iron Man glove...

Edgy, incredibly edgy. Tony's influence ran deep.

Fortunately, Oaks could activate remote magic.

He instructed the masked kid to quickly find his adult guardian and turned around to continue clearing out the persistent armored robots that were trying to rush to Tony's battlefield.

However, he didn't notice that the masked kid standing behind him dumbly removed the Iron Man mask.

He was a cute little boy with brown hair, probably around ten years old. His big eyes widened in astonishment, but his attention had shifted from the aerial battle of Iron Man to the green vines strangling the robots around him.

"Wow... I didn't know ropes could be used like this..."

This was an important battle for Tony to regain the trust of the public. Oaks wouldn't interfere in the main battlefield, but he had a responsibility to handle these auxiliary tasks.

Even if the civilians were hit by stray bullets and falling debris, Oaks would discreetly use a healing spell to save anyone whose life was at risk.

For a moment, scattered green lights flickered in the crowd, accompanied by occasional excited screams.

Although they praised God, Oaks also smiled.

Because Antonio, Matt, Banner, and Yinsen had already joined Blaze and his group. The members of the Benevolence Society were now volunteering to maintain order.

With the current popularity of the Benevolence Society in New York, they had better connections than the New York Police Department, making them very efficient in such matters.

However, Oaks had many things to attend to...

If he remembered correctly, these robots were not so simple.

With a distant loud noise, the battle that had lasted only a few dozen minutes finally came to an end.

Ivan Vanko, also known as "Whiplash," who had escaped before Melinda arrived, despite having a new suit of armor and weapons, ultimately died in a large explosion caused by the collision between Tony and Rhodes energy blast.

But Ivan still had one final move—the self-destruction system of the drones.

However, when Tony rushed back to the venue in a hurry, all he saw were several piles of burning embers—

Oaks' magical vines had gathered together, entwining all the robots into a ball of vines. Even the powerful self-destruction of the robots was completely suppressed within the ball.

Then, he utilized the flames from the explosion to erase their them.

Now, the area around the venue was clean and not a single vine could be seen.

"Oh, that's quite environmentally friendly."

Tony, covered in dirt and debris, took off his helmet, embraced Pepper who ran into his arms, and started kissing her as if no one else was around.

"Tsk, so open... Well, I won't disturb you. We'll leave first, and you take care of the police."

Oaks saw that the situation was almost under control and prepared to signal for a retreat.

"Oaks, buddy, you better plan my new office building properly. Its groundbreaking ceremony is in a couple of days!"

Tony called out from behind him.

"And also, that place will be my new headquarters. I plan to power everything with the Arc Reactor... I'll take care of what you have in mind!"

"Isn't this Queens large enough for you to mess around with?"

Oaks curled his lips, but he also knew that Tony was referring to the new office building in Manhattan, New York, which he personally participated in designing—the renowned "Stark Tower."

It would become the future headquarters of the Avengers.

"Don't worry, I'll go there. But before that, it seems like you need to be prepared to deal with Mr. Director..."

Oaks waved his hand and turned around.

"Just a reminder, he's pretty furious when you cause such a commotion."

"Huh? Furious? I will just promise him that I could join his Super Boy Squad, right?"
