Chapter 89: Return to the Amazon

Oaks is returning to the Amazon rainforest once again, he had already established control over half of the Amazon rainforest during his previous visit.

For Oaks, coming here felt like returning home.

During his previous meditation, he had learned how to utilize the Nature Energy he already controlled to perform powerful healing magic without the need for spell materials in ordinary environments.

And now, his goal was to completely control the Nature Energy of the entire Amazon rainforest.

The Battle of New York occurred in 2012, less than two years from now. The development of the Benevolence Society was a long-term project that would not yield immediate results.

According to Oaks' estimation, it would take at least five years, if not longer, for the effects brought about by the Benevolence Society to truly impact him.

Therefore, gaining complete control over the Nature Energy of the Amazon rainforest as soon as possible was a good way to rapidly increase his strength.

With the entire Amazon rainforest and the Nature Energy of the "lungs of the Earth" supporting him, he could spend some time remotely borrowing the power from here to empower himself.

Although borrowing power was not very efficient, at least he wouldn't be fighting alone anywhere on Earth.

After all, while the Gobi Desert was also a part of nature, the balance-based spells that were more suitable for directly manipulating natural phenomena and were of little help to Feral and Restoration spells.

This time, Oaks had come by plane using the normal route.

That was because he needed to transport two little things—Moco and Coco.

Oaks wanted to try and maximize the strength of these two little creatures in the environment of the Amazon rainforest.

During the Battle of New York, they would serve as insurance for the members of the Benevolence Society.

As for Goose...

Unfortunately, Goose couldn't harness the essence of nature, at least not the essence of the Earth's ecosystem to advance its life level.

Firstly, its life level was already not low; the Flerken was an intelligent extraterrestrial creature.

Secondly... because it wasn't an Earth creature, it was considered an "alien" to the Earth's ecosystem. It was already good enough to have it as a companion. Are you still hoping for further evolution?

For domesticated pet breeds, taking them into the wilderness would simply be a disaster.

Fortunately, Moco and Coco had already been infused with the essence of nature at home, so they could at least do the most basic "self-cleaning."

Otherwise, if the fluffy Ragdoll cat and short-legged Corgi entered the Amazon rainforest...

They probably wouldn't even dare to look at themselves with their significantly increased intelligence.

"Bark!"

A faint green light enveloped Moco as it happily frolicked in the rainforest, occasionally tripping over tree roots and vines but paying no attention to it.

Coco, on the other hand, abandoned its usual docile and gentle fairy-like demeanor as a pet cat and climbed up and down with great agility.

Oaks smiled as he watched them run around—it was going to be a quite dull period of time, so let's have some fun for a while!

...

In the tropical rainforest, where there were no seasonal changes, it was difficult to sense the passage of time.

Unbeknownst to them, as Oaks' control expanded, he and the two little creatures had already ventured deep into another vast area of the Amazon rainforest.

With further infusion of rainforest's natural essence called upon by Oaks, Moco and Coco had undergone peculiar changes.

A shimmering green light constantly surrounded them, accentuating their adorable appearance with a touch of spiritual aura.

Natural spirit beasts, they were species that had once appeared on Earth.

In myths and legends from around the world, there was never a shortage of animals possessing spirituality.

From ancient mythical creatures with extraordinary abilities to shape-shifting spirits, both Eastern and Western cultures were full of legendary tales featuring these magical creatures.

However, in Oaks' view, besides Earth being the "central courtyard" of the "World Tree Structure," which largely gathered entrances to the Nine Realms and even more alternate dimensions, it was also very likely that the primordial natural environment of Earth had given birth to indigenous natural spirit beasts, apart from the occasional appearances of extraterrestrial or extra dimensional beings.

Utilizing the magical powers of the Druids, Oaks recreated the theoretically flawless process, turning Moco and Coco into the unprecedented newly emerged natural spirit beasts in an era when the ecological circle was in sharp decline.

Of course, they were still quite young at this stage, having only made progress in intelligence and auxiliary abilities. In order to possess formidable combat power, they would need to continue learning and receive further support from Oaks.

As a Welsh Corgi, Moco already belonged to an excellent guard-type herding dog breed, and the infusion of natural essence greatly enhanced all aspects of its performance as a dog.

At the same time, Nature Energy also augmented its guarding ability—it unexpectedly possessed a somewhat weak but highly practical ability for rapid healing!

On the other hand, Coco, as a Ragdoll cat with a high tolerance for pain, concealed beneath its fairy-like appearance, had the heart of an assassin—

The Nature Energy strengthened its feline hunting instincts and all physical indicators while granting it the ability to move stealthily!

"The two of you combined, you're like a soul beast..."

That was the only way Oaks could comment.

On this day, in a new unfamiliar area of the rainforest, Moco's greatly enhanced nose went on high alert.

"A human settlement?!"

Oaks could directly communicate with Moco through telepathy, and upon hearing its report, he became interested.

"We're deep in the rainforest, how can there be a human settlement?"

"Meow~"

With its beautiful large tail swaying, Coco gradually disappeared, entering a stealth state as it followed Moco's direction for exploration.

Oaks closed his eyes. Although he hadn't yet gained control over this part of the rainforest, it was still simple to conduct surveillance using some powers.

Thus, he discovered that roughly three kilometers in the direction indicated by Moco, there was indeed a human settlement.

Primitive-style wooden houses were scattered in a clearing among the trees, and not far away, a moderately-sized tributary of the Amazon River flowed by.

By the river, there were some roughly crafted wooden boats, which were likely their means of transportation for interaction with the outside world.

The people in the village were evidently not primitive; they had blacksmith shops, carpentry shops, a nursery, and enclosures for rearing livestock.

One of the animals they reared was the adorable alpaca, one of the most important livestock animals in South America.

And...

"They even have electric lights?!"

As Oaks marveled at this, Coco had already stealthily arrived at the village.

He shared Coco's vision and, utilizing its perspective while in stealth, deeply observed the details of the village.

"The people here... are highly organized, and they seem to have assigned roles and get along harmoniously."

After observing for a while, Oaks had to come to a conclusion—

This was a secluded and peaceful little village.

However, there was always a sense of disharmony in the perception of Nature Energy.

"It's as if... everyone is following a predetermined script. There's an almost false harmony here, but what..."

"Who's there!"

In Coco's field of vision, a villager it was observing suddenly turned around, staring fixedly at Coco's location.

And his eyes turned metallic!

In the next moment, Oaks lost the shared vision with Coco!

"Damn it!"
