Did Not Matter Anymore

"No, keep it aside."

".... pardon?" The maid stood there dumbfounded. Suddenly the weight of the small pie felt heavier to her delicate hands. "You mean you want to eat it for dessert after dinner?" she hoped that was the case. She would convince the duchess that your grace wanted to savor its taste till the end.

But Damien only furrowed his brows and glared at the maid for her disobedience.

"Take it to my office and keep it there as I have told you." the maid opened her mouth but closed it when his eyes narrowed.

"..... yes, your grace.'' She could only look at Evangeline apologetically as she took the pie to his office grumbling in her heart.

The maids looked at Evan with worry but the young woman smiled. Her expressions did not change at all.

"Would you like to have tea or do you have any prior appointment, your grace?" as if the pie did not matter to her either. When Damien nodded, she looked at Olga who left with a bow.
