Chapter 11

"Up!" Cold water was splashed into her face.

She sat up with a gasp. She found herself on the floor, curled up in a ball. The pain in her body and muscles was mostly gone. She looked up to see a man staring at her. He was big and tall and was sitting cross-legged. Next to him, were guards, holding guns.

"What's your name kid?" asked the man.

"Um.. I…" she stuttered.

"Doesn't after," said the man, "I don't really care about your old name. You're Enyo now and you belong to me. Okay, kid?"

She nodded. "Do you know why I'm naming you Enyo and not Experiment 48?" She shook her head.

"You are the last experiment, you killed the other doctors. Don't have anyone to work for me now. Enyo's a goddess of destruction." the man pointed to a screen behind him and it turned on.

She gasped as it showed two bodies on the floor, the two doctors she had hit. She had killed them? There was no way, she was only four!

"HEY!" a stern yell from the man shocked her out of her… well shock. "You will call me boss or Father got it?"

She nodded. "Say it!"

"Yes…boss…" she said.

The boss nodded, "Good, and what's your name?"

"Enyo."

"And who do you belong to?"

"You."

"That's right, you're my soldier now." laughed the boss. Enyo flinched as he walked up to her and grabbed her chin, "We're going to have a lot of fun."

"Wherever we go, destruction will always follow…" whispered Cynthia's voice in Enyo's mind, "Get used to it. Accept it. Become the destroyer, not the destroyed."

Hemlock's expression turned fearful as Enyo took small steps toward him. But, it was Anaya who made the first move. It appeared that out of nowhere, she pulled out a shotgun and aimed. BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!

Enyo jumped back, avoiding all of the bullets. Anaya was skilled in shooting. It was one of her skills and a product of experimentation. She could shoot while aiming while reloading. The barrage didn't seem to stop and Enyo kept on moving.

There. She saw it. If she could take that path between the cars, while avoiding the line of fire and Hemlock, she could maybe just land one hit on Anaya. Enyo jumped for it. She winced at the pain in her leg.

BANG! "Shit," muttered Enyo as the bullet grazed her shoulder. It ripped through the fabric and left a deep cut on her arm.

She ignored it and ran for Anaya. BAM! Her good let connected with the gun in Anaya's hand and it skidded away. Anaya reacted immediately, jumping at Enyo. She ducked behind Anaya and punched her back.

With superhuman strength, Anaya fell far and looked like she was out cold. She winced at the cut on her right shoulder. It was deep and bleeding.

Then, she smelled it. "What did you-" Enyo dropped to her knees, gripping the wound on her arm. The pain was different from other flesh wounds she had had before. This was different. This was… poison.

"Enyo!" shouted Max, "Are you okay? Leave her alone!"

"Stay back," she groaned. Max hesitated but stayed.

Hemlock walked slowly closer to Enyo. He let out a guttural laugh, "Ha! How do you feel now? Enyo?"

"What did-" she gasped in pain, "What did you do to me?"

"It's a shame," said Hemlock, "It's my newest poison, but you'll never truly feel it, no thanks to your regeneration."

"Ah!" Enyo let out a gasp of pain and fell to the floor.

Hemlock walked up to her, unafraid now, "Like it? It's supposed to be painful. I designed it so that it would attack every nerve in your body, slowly, and steadily. For someone with regular healing skills, they won't be able to heal as easily. They'd probably die painfully." Hemlock nudged Enyo with his foot and she glared at him through the hazy pain, "You'll probably just suffer for a really long time, but no worries, I'll kill you right now and spare you."

"Spare me?" laughed Enyo from the floor, she was shaking now, "Spare me from your villain's monologue."

"Wha-" WHAM!

Enyo's good arm connected with Hemlock's fist and he flew backward. Enyo stood up, her hands on her hips, and glared at him. "Did you literally forget the first thing Father taught us?"

Hemlock rubbed his chin, "Don't underestimate," he smiled, "You underestimated me."

Oh no… Enyo turned and saw Anaya was conscious. She gave Enyo a smile and picked up her fallen shotgun and… aimed it at Max.
